Can igg antibodies go down for hsv?
Igm antibodies can decrease and igg antibodies will continue to rise as time goes on .... igm just means recent infection
Yes, but not entirely.
Sehla, please disregard the other poster. She insists she has herpes when her results and backstory clearly say otherwise, asks basic questions that have already been answered or which can be readily found online, and is now also passing on misinformation.
*So*, to reiterate and further clarify...
Unlike the case with other conditions, NO, IgM does *not* necessarily mean new or recent infection when it comes to herpes, as IgM can also be produced in response to recurrences.
IgG persists for life, but, YES, it *can* and does in fact decline somewhat over longer periods of time after peaking following initial infection. Same thing happens with other diseases, which explains why you need booster shots.
How can I be getting attacked this much on a forum that is here to help people? People like me? You don't know my life and you don't know what I'm going trough, how can I take your word over the doctor when you don't even know me or know my symptoms.... of all the questions mine are the most basic ? Wow all I ever came on here to do was get help and I am getting attacked, if I'm so negative why is my test coming up positive? Why do I still have tingling to this day ? Feliz you might as well be a doctor.
What booster shots are you talking about?
When you get a vaccination shot for something, your body produces IgG antibodies in response to the antigen. Over time, the level can fall, hence why you need a booster shot after X years in some cases. Similar thing happens with naturally acquired herpes and the IgG produced in response.
