Hi guys. ive been posting on here recently, and recently posted pictures of my “outbreak” which cleared up pretty quickly. My results finally came back and I am postive for HSV-1. My doctor on the phone told me it is not considered an STD, but obviously since its genital i got it from sex… So idk why she said that.. I was told that HSV-1 does not thrive that well in the genital region and that i am less likely to have outbreaks down there than i would be if it was oral or if i had hsv2. How often do you guys have HSV-1 genital outbreaks? What do i do when i want to have a baby? How have you guys told your sexual partners? should i be on a daily antiviral? How contagious am I? Im honeslty not that upset to actually have it. and i know ill get over it, im just embarrased and afraid to tell my boyfriend because we recently started dating so i dont even think its from him, and im afraid to spread it…
he meant mainly that hsv1 is so common that 80% of the population has it orally. if they have it orally they’ll never get it genetaly because they have immunity with the antibodies. did you go to the Dr and the did a swab on the sore or your blood work came bk positive to determine the type. the swab is very accurate.
have him test chances are he has it orally and if this was a new ob could possibly be from him if he’s done oral to you. I’ve read alot these 5 months smh. I’m negative on the IgG after my exposure 5 months out. just want to pay it forward. hsv1 recurrences are slim maybe 1 a year. after that chances are u won’t get another one at all. ask him if he’s ever had cold sores and if he has then you’re good. hsv1 is so common I wouldn’t worry about it at all. just ask or tell future partners u have the cold sore virus. no need to tell location unless they don’t have it ofcourse.

This outbreak was very mild compared to what I have seen on here but still praying I don’t get one again, and if I do that they wont happen frequently. My last partner was Hsv-1 positive orally. However i stopped seeing him about 4 months ago and have been with my current partner for 2 months. My current partner hasnt been tested in years but was negative when he was tested, and I am assuming he has been with multiple people over time. So who knows…
