Hi. Does anyone else have HSV1 genital? What do you say to people? I haven't dated in 2 years, and want to get back out there. Any advice?

No need to say anything, or if you must, just casually say that you carry the cold sore virus without specifying where. Having it genitally is actually less infectious than having it orally, and few people disclose about having it orally. Perhaps they should, but that's another matter, plus many aren't even aware they have it. Up to you.

Thanks. I bought Kelly Schultz book and she is all about telling partner. Yes why don't people with cold sores disclose. I kinda feel like it's so unfair especially psychologically. I've been through hell and want to date but feel so stigmatized

Then tell a prospective partner, but there's no reason to use the word herpes or indicate that it's genital. You carry the cold sore virus is correct and adequate, imo at least, and carries far less social stigma. Good luck!

 I just realized I have herpes sores, I am 43 years young and I want to start dating again. I've been dating someone and looking forward to being with him, but this changes everything. I wish you well on your journey and I know you will figure it out. Let me know when you do because I haven't LOL.  I have an appointment on Wednesday with my doctor and will find out more then, but I refuse to believe this is the end of the world which was my initial thought ❤️

Hey. The guy I am dating says he has the cold sore virus too. I said I carry the virus. Should I be more specific?

No need. You actually carry it in a less infectious location than him, assuming he has it orally! That's good he has it, by the way, as neither of you need to fear transmission.

Thanks. He is a carrier apparently but has never had an outbreak. Could he catch it anyway? How are you anyhow? 💝

In theory he shouldn't, not if he definitely carries the virus. And I'm doing as well as can be, thanks! :D

I have hsv1 all so mine test results was 56.10
