If it's genital only, but that seems an unfair classification to me, so I would argue that it's not.
Why isn't hsv tested in a regular std test
HSV2 certainly should be included, imo, but then there are issues with false positives, and the authorities don't seem to view herpes as serious enough to warrant routine testing, especially when the results may produce false alarms. It's very frustrating.

Not usually. You need to specifically request it in most cases.
