Huge fear of dislocation

Hello everyone

I am fairly new here ....I am 4 weeks today post op and I have really had a time of it...surgery went very well....Doctor and nurses were amazing...However I lost some blood during surgery and had to have a blood transfusion.I was kept in bed for 3 days my platlets were low and my blood pressure crashed.(I am usually on the high side  but controled) I had a reaction to the bandaging it was on for 2 days and blistered when the nurse removed it the top of the blisters came off....very painful...and they got infected ...the bandage was huge....what a friggin mess...on the forth day they had me up walking and doing stairs in the morning ....was realeased in the afternoon...I came home and was feeling really good and on the 3rd day I woke at 3:30 am vomiting with the flu .....could not even lift my head off the bed ,,,a really good friend my sister in-law and brother force fed me watermellon and ensure...thank god for them...now I am up doing my exercises and feeling good ...staples out etc....went for a both last week and fell in the tub....my brilliant boyfriend said what did you do that for...(not next time I will come sit while you bath)...Now I am terrified that I may how done damage to my hip...my groin was a little sore bt now is keeping mr awake nights...I was also taking short jonts to the deck without my cane and now have to use it all the time...I see my surgeon on Thursday and am so afraid of bad news....I was so excited to have this surgery done but now wish I never did   can someone give me some good news for a change...sorry for such a long post .

Brighest Blessings

Hi,poor you! All I can advise you to do is to listen to your body.don't over do things whatever you do.I am 4 months post op.even now I get bouts of stiffness! And feel bruised.but I am a carer so on the go each day.take your meds when you need them.I also have reflexology and this is wonderful for me!I am going to have regular jacuzzis! Regards Amanda

Thank you Amanda ...reflexology sounds like a great idea..

Had you dislocated it with your fall in the bath you wouldn't even been able to walk , sounds as if you have bruised it. If at all worried you could go to the hospital get them to do a xray this is what we have all been told and take the pain killers but things will improve I am 8 weeks to day I still walk occasionally with a crutch or stick. On jokey note take more whiskey with the water lol xx

Hi nice person

Sounds like ups and downs which is the pattern.....Two steps forward and one back.

If you had dislocated I really think you would be in excruciating pain and would know it...so un likely but wish you well for check up.

I was told dislocation very unlikely but sure be careful...and my physio said no baths for 6 weeks for me. Love and sunshine

how awful for you....

My blood pressure dropped like a stone too, usually very high and took a while to get back up.

It is not very easy to dislocate your hip and if you did, you would be carted off to hospital.  In other words, if you had dislocated it, you would know it!!!!!!!!!!!

You will find yourself getting better quickly now, the worst is over.  Pity you haven't a walk in shower, the bath business is a real  trial.

brightest blessings to you too sunshine....................

dear granny .... welcome to this wonderful forum ... I agree with our fellow hippies regarding the dislocation and if so, you would be in horrible pain...

at 3-4 weeks we all have a tendency to do more and expect too much of ourselves .. take your pain meds - there is no gain in having pain with THR ... no shame in using cane (I still do at 16 weeks post-op when outside) -

ask your surgeon if an xray can be taken -

take it easy and be very gentle with your self - you are doing great ...

warm hug,

renee

Hi Granny

Sounds like you have been through the mill!

However, we all have blips of one sort or another - glad you had support from your relatives when you were sick

Just the action of vomiting would have caused you hip pain - I know if I cough it hurts!

i don't think you have done major damage or you would know about it

I don't know whether the bath is such a good thing- I am nearly 4 weeks post op and was told not to have a bath till I get clearance from surgeon when I see him next

Do be careful it is so easy to slip or miss your footing

Glad you are feeling better - lots of friendly people on this forum to listen to your woes and successes

Best wishes Linda 💖💖

Firstly love your name but sorry to hear of your plight. I am only one week post op. I have shower over bath and been told not to use it until after 6 weeks review. Easy for your bf to chide but we women find it hard to be dependant and we just have too. Hopefully we will be glad we had the op when we are able to walk etc pain free.

All I can say is see your doctor asap. You may have popped it out of place. So sorry to here that you're going through this. Hope everything works out.

There is healing and a light at the end of recovery. You will get better over time.all that matters is today.Do what you can each day Ann's be proud of your accomplishments xxx

Hello there.  You poor thing to have to through all of that.  Just think though worst is now behind you and it can get better.  Like my fellow hippies have said, it is unlikely you have dislocated the hip, as you would know if you did. tge physiotherapist at the hospital said it is rare (about 1% chance), but be careful and follow the 6 week restrictions that were given.  I am surprised that you can have a bath as I was told no baths, or showers over bath for 6 weeks. Even after that, I was told to observe the 90 degree rule.  i got a bath stool to put in the bath and found that a safe way to get in & out.

You will find you will get lots of aches and pains, possibly trouble with sleeping, and as I have lower back pain. It is all part of the process to recovery, so take it steady and listen to your body.

The forum has been so helpful to me and it isn't all negative gloom and doom.  We just get answers to questions the hospital or non hippies can give.

Best wishes on your recovery.

thank you sarah...I think I may be pushing it just a little after everything but I am going stir crazy...as for the bath I was not given a time line and the organization that helps never brought me a bath chair I finally had to go buy one...kept promising but it never came...since the fall I only shower now....I guess I am a little inpatient ....and the sleep yes it comes and goes...Thank you once again
