So, I had a hydrocelectomy operation around July 2018. About a month after my operation, around the time the swelling began to go down (and notably, around the time I began having sex again and masturbating), I began noticing that my penis would not get as firm as it once did. I also noticed that when I ejaculate it no longer shoots out, it dribbles. This has been extremely unsatisfying and my condition has gotten much worse. I can sometimes maintain an erection but it is a challenge now and I literally have not had a morning erection since about a month after the operation. My urologists told me it has absolutely nothing to do with the operation which I absolutely refuse to believe. So I have hit a dead end in terms of getting professional help now. I would like to ask you all, has anyone experienced this and gotten a different response from their urologist? i.e it is possible that the operation can cause this. I myself can feel a thick, swollen tube like structure inside my scrotum that runs from the root of my penis to my balls and I'm sure I could never feel it before the operation. My urologists gave me an examination and told me it's all good and the tubes were not even touched during the operation. Am I wrong for thinking that is utter BS because y'know, balls are attached to a few tubes, move the balls and remove it's surrounding membrane, there is a chance it could affect connecting features, no? Urologist says zero chance. A couple more questions. Where exactly was your incision made? Mine was directly down the center line of the scrotum about halfway down. Has anyone else here got cysts on their operated testicle? I have 3 or 4 including one on my epidymis. I also was diagnosed with epididymo-orchitis prior to surgery with no actual conclusion as to why, or how to make it better. Please can people comment who have experienced this or something similar post hydrocele surgery. I would seriously appreciate anyone who has any insight that could save me! I am 25 and I fully regret this operation.
Could be anxiety over the whole thing you would be surprised what it can do to you physically. I had some similar experiences I have that swollen tube you feel but I was told things around that area may thicken up. I also noticed when I ejaculate it’s not as strong as it was before but I’m also 41 and was told that tends to happen as you age. I also have a cyst I had a few ultrasounds done and the doc said it’s nothing to worry about. I havent had any trouble keeping an erection though the testicles and penis arent really connected in that way and I dont believe there is anything that could get cut relating to the penis during that type of procedure which is why I’m thinking your issue may be mental.
jim - i had mine done same time (july time frame). After a month to 6 weeks i could say the same. Even at 3 months it did not seem the same. But little by little it has all gone back to normal. i mean i guess we should not be surprised, its a pretty invasive procedure. I went to youtube out of curuosity to watch real hydrocelectomies posted and holy crap that is one crazy surgery we had. My balls still sometimes ach even today. Also my incision was same place as yours. No cysts but my scar is not the prettiest. i had a hematoma in my sack and it ruptured my stiches so it healed all wonky. Doc wanted to put me back on the table and i said HELL NO. I dont care what it looks like down there. Dont ever want to go through this ■■■■ ever again. i have read of folks taking 6-months to a year to get back to normal so give it some time brother. I know this sucks.
jim, holy crap bro, im also 25 and had the surgery done and completely regret doing it, i got it done about 4 years ago and dude let me tell you how shitty i have been ever since, my balls are so fucked up now, ■■■■ those doctors that said i should have this procedure done! this is complete bullshit, completely not okay. jim i would honestly just love to meet you. or atleast talk, i feel for you man, this is very hard to deal and live with. please get back to me asap.

My husband also had this surgery done about 8 years ago. He is of course now 72 but experienced the no longer shoot out, it dribbles just as you mentioned. His penis does not get as firm as it once did since that surgery. One thing different than your is that the surgeon did tell him this would happen. My husband had other issues that made this decision mandatory. He has never been happy about this but it is what it is. His health is excellent and I guess that is what is more important at this age. If you are a young man then you may want to get another opinion from other specialists, but like I said his surgeon “did” assure him this would happen. Sorry.. Good luck.
hi. its 15 days since my large 24oz hydrocele was removed. my penis has shrunk to the point its like a turtle head hiding, possibly from being swollen. but to my happy surprise, last night around midnight, i got an erection which proudly found its way out of my jockey boxers. trust me, it was one of my best erections ever! i wanted to take care of it, but was afraid of ripping stiches etc. plus my groin and balls still ache . about 30 minutes later it finally went back into my shorts to sleep. im 68 years old..i was thrilled to know it still stands up like a lead pipe. hopefully yours is good by now!
Did your ED resolve itself? I’ve not long had surgery for hydrocele and epididymal cyst and have had very few erections since. Those that I have had, the side of the penis feels firm but the underneath cylinder if that makes sense barely changes at all so it flops around all over the place. Really hoping that will resolve itself and is a short term side effect of the surgery.
mine was up about a week later, spongy, but, just the first few, i only had 24 ounce hydrocele removed, no cysts.. the only thing i noticed is a lump at the top base of my erection which tends to bend my erections outward and to the side, but, there hard as a steel pipe and im 69
Thats good to hear, thanks for replying. My cyst in particular was a big one - 10cm in diameter so hoping when things settle down I will be back to as I was before. Its all a bit of a wreck down there at the moment. The testicle on the affected side is in a very odd position now and everything is still very sore. I am 38 and the thought of having long term ED scares me.
i hadmine 12 weeks ago, still have an egg sized lump ontop my left nut, but nothing hurts, my first ejaculation was watery, i waited 5 weeks.. but, even at my age it was extremely explosive! flew 3 feet in all directions! now its back to normal volume, but, i use it at least 5 times a week just to make sure;) im alsoon low dose 5mg daily cialis, but. have been on that for a few years. good luck with yours! remember call your doctor if you have problems! i see my surgeon again in January. he said swelling can last for months, everyone is different.. hang in there! your a yng guy, I’m sure you’ll be back to normal soon! just don’t overdo it;)
Jim, holy crap man, I think we may be the same person. I’m 25 as well, had my surgery back around September 2018, and am having the exact same ED effects as you’re speaking of almost 2 years later now! No morning wood, difficulty staying hard, much weaker staying hard, etc. I’m currently overseas traveling, but will be making an appointment with my Urologist when I return to USA in June. I’ll be sure to let you know what I find. Have you learned anything new?

Sorry to here your issue and at 25 I here your concern. I have had two ops because the first one failed and neither affected my erection. I am 60 & I would say mine is 7/10.
You will find as you age sperm won’t fly out like at 16.
Have you considered trying viagra to see if that improves the erection? So you are able to function and satisfy your partner.
I would seek a second opinion to see what another urologist says about your problem being fixed and if the operation could have caused it.
I am sorry but I have dealt with medical people quite a few times and they lie. Don’t think, “he’s a doctor, he won’t lie”.
If the operation caused erectile disfunction, you expect him to say, “opps, sorry, my fault”?

I had surgery for a hydrocele exactly one month ago today. The swelling has since subsided and the pain from the surgery has pretty much gone away. However, ever since the surgery I have had complete erectile dysfunction. I first noticed the problem after two weeks, when I tried masturbate and realized that I was unable to become hard, at all. This was extremely disconcerting since I’ve never had this problem before. I thought/hoped the problem would take care of itself, but now it’s been one month from the surgery and there’s no change in my condition. I contacted the doctor that performed the surgery and he said that the surgery was not in an area that could affect nerves or blood flow to the penis, and that it’s not related to the surgery. I’m very worried about how this will play out. I’m 49.

Hi. my urologist/surgeon and every other so called specialist that I have spoken to has told me that it’s all in my head. i still have the same ED problem 2 years on from the surgery. I can achieve an erection but nowhere near as easily as I did prior to surgery. I am on cialis and while it does work, it’s not the same. Erections no longer feel as good as they used to, it goes down very easily compared to before when my erections were strong and I would actually sometimes have trouble making it go down when i didn’t want an erection ha. cialis works but it doesn’t feel like a normal erection and still doesn’t feel as hard as it should. it has also lost that strong springyness you get, y’know when you move your erection down and it will spring back up (not sure if that makes sense but don’t know how else to describe it) I have no help from the doctors and no answers. Please can you tell me your experience, have you had any luck?
I still have that problem. Has yours improved? I really need to fix this without having to rely on cialis and viagra for the rest of my life.
A hydrocele is not a serious or life-threatening disease. So you don’t need to worry much and become restless. I have suffered from hydrocele two times and both the time I had to undergo surgical procedures to get rid of them.
After both my surgical procedures, I hadn’t faced such an issue of erectile dysfunction. However, if you have such a problem, you should consult your doctor and discuss the problem. If the doctor fails to do anything, contact an experienced urologist and discuss the same. I think this might be a side effect of your surgery that can be treated easily.
