I had this a month ago after having frozen shoulder for 5 months. It works and I am so much better. Pain all gone and I can now get my hand half way up my back. Had it at Nuffield Leeds. Physio is a waste of time until you have some treatment. It doesnt matter what stage you are at to have this done.
That is just what I needed to hear, thanks Alison
Hi Carol. I actually don't know what this is. Was going to google it, as feel a bit stupid. No one has ever mentioned it to me. On here is the first time Ive heard it. Sounds amazing though.
Did you find Physio basically useless before this?
Hi Carol, so glad this helped you...........Hydrodilation isn't offered everywhere not sure why
Agree though physio waste of time until you have had operations to sort it! God I can't wait to tie my hair up - it seems like years ago I could do that
Everyone on here is just so desperate to stop the pain and return to 'normal' Lol
We can all sympathise .........
Thanks carol70580. only one hospital does it near me, im a bit worried as ive just had a steroid injection but that was only 1ml of liquid and it didnt work. So now im waiting for the next one which is 10ml..
Hi Mel how are you doing today?
Hi Linda. Not too bad thank you. This bloody cold is irritating. Just doesn't take much to feel run down at the moment, as I'm sure everyone on here is all to well aware.
Thank you for asking. How are you? X
Hi, its done under a local. Takes 10 minutes. They inject saline straight into your shoulder which lifts the adhesions of the bone. Feels a bit strange and tight but not painful. The relief after it was amazing. I went private at Nuffield in Leeds, Simon Boyle. A friend of mine told her GP who had not heard of it before but referred her to the hospital and she got if done in a few weeks under the NHS.
Every day I see improvement. Sleeping pain free. No pain at all now. Still restricted in some movement but getting there.
Should have said the shoulder specialist said physio is a waste of time until you have treatment first.
When I asked my physio about it she said they wouldnt do until it was completely frozen but I emailed the specailist direct and he said the sooner you get it done the better and you can get it done at any stage.
I would ask for Hydrodilation. The steriod is a temporary fix. Hydrodilation is not a cure but it gets rid of the pain and speeds up the healing process. I hardly notice my frozen shoulder now and its only been a month.

The specialist who did the steroid is the one going over the gp head to his friend in another hospital to get me pushed forward asap. ive spent a fortune on Osteopath as i didnt know what it was when i first had it. So went privately, paid over £200 and then had steroid injection. So now waiting for specialist to contact me. Ive just emailed the guy that did the steroid injection as he seems to be really helpful and told him that im in so much pain and now work is suffering as its hurting to work. I have to wait to be assessed at new hospital, then i will go in for procedure. I hate needles with a passion but he said that the procedure is same as steroid injection and that didnt hurt me so im going for it. I was skeptical when i ralised its not done everywhere but i trust this guy who runs his own private clininic. If id not spent £200 on osteopath i would be able to have it done privately at £350 BTW it costs nhs £75 !!!
I have physio next week but i think they are 4 weeks too late with that, had i had it done a week after steroid im sure it would have helped a lot.

Sounds uncomfortable, but with obvious amazing results!! Is it a new procedure? You saying that your friends doctor hadn't even heard of it, to me emphasises that the whole FS thing is a grey area with some doctors. As this week after I saw specialist about my neck, she said I had developed FS because of it, which I knew, well that it was something more, but told my doctor the next day, and I'm sure she thinks its literally just stiff!! Not agonising pain!!!! Does all that make sense?!!!!x
The procedure does not hurt. Feels a bit tight but thats it. I have bupa through work thats why I went private.
Good luck.
Perfect sense. Frozen should is the worse pain I have ever had and after months of not sleeping etc it really gets you down. I wouldnt even say the procedure was uncomfortable just felt a bit strange and tight but that was it. Over in 10 mins relief immediate.
Hi Mel awww yep I bet it is
FS makes even the slightest little thing much worse
hope it clears up fast for you...........
Today my pain seems to have eased a little bit more yay
still v resrticted with movements dispite everyday excercises.......... you get so fed up going over and over it when nothing seems to help or you see little improvement don't you sigh lol...........
Think you are right about FS being a grey area - they should deffo put more research into it.
Awwww nooooo - the hospital have just called and cancelled my app for next thursday
Gotta wait now till 2nd April............... shoot me now!!!!
Thanks Carol70580. I wish i had private but no such luck.
Deb
how many treatments of acupuncture does it take for you to have more mobility I like I said I had two in the last 25 days I do have mobility much more but I would like more mobility
I actually dozed off for an hour!!!! Why my partner woke me up I don't know !!!!!! It was a lovely hour anyway.
You're so right about when you keep going over it. Like when I see the doctor. That's exhausting in itself!! Sometimes it's like m trying to justify myself.
The time will go super quick, and it will be April before you know it. What's that appointment for? Are you having surgery too? Sorry trying to keep up with everybody. I know you're a nurse. What a brilliant and important job!
Story continues, specialist, Neil, called he hasn't booked me in for hydrodilutation, so I called doc, doc sd he knows nothing about it, so doc sd to get Neil to call doc, doc called back, Neil called and they decided between them that I'm having another steroid injection next week. I'm having physio on wed but only cos they are only ones who can push me forward for hydrodilutation. So, fingers crossed. Unfortunately, I have to drive my daughter to her new job on same day! Aargh. Lol x
Awww thats a bit rotten of him - they never think do they!!!! I bet you were having such a blissful sleep aswell.
Lol no worries Mel - I can't keep up with everybody either! I had mua & they looked inside my shoulder & shaved a bit of the bone off & got rid of all the adhesions ( scar tissue ) lol ![]()
The app was to see consultant who will make up his mind if I need further mua......... I had never heard of FS until I was diagnosed & was like "What?????? No way! Are you sure" I googled it to death!!!
Yes I worked for the NHS for 37years in total - I took early retirement 2years ago
Was a sister in critical care.
It's vile being on the recieving end lol.......
Hope you manage some good quality sleep tonight huni & that you get pain free soon. We all must stay strong!!! This condition does eventually improve so I'm told
keeping everything crossed ![]()
