Hi everyone,
I had my suregery done on September 16, it hurt me as ■■■■ but the nurses were very happy with the way it was healing. On September 28 (one week and a half) the nurses started seeing granulation in the wound.
On October 1 and 2 (todau and yesterday) the whole wound is hypergranulated and the nurses have been burning them with a product to control the expansion of the granulation and I'm seeing my doctor urgently on Monday, he might have to remove all the tissue that has built up so far in my wound.
Has anyone ever heard of hypergranulation problems in the healing of a PS problem? If so, what do you have to tell me as the nurses don't tell me much and they tell me that I shouldn't worry but in the other hand I'M seing the surgeon again on Monday. I'm so stressed. Thank you all for your advice and support.
Oh yes, one more thing, I have been burnt with Silver Nitrate two days in a row :cry:
i have now had 3 pilonidal sinus now and Burning it back with Silver Nitrate is good it does hurt but its better as the skin grows over the wound it has to heal from the bottom of the wound up not from the side and covering it over. Ask them for a Vac machine( vaccum assistance closure) this will heal the pilonidal sinus a lot quicker about 4 to 6 weeks. The machine makes a noise but well worth it. they had to cut all the healing out of my wound. and i getting a vac machine on monday hopefully 
if they need to reoperate dont let them stitch it up. i believe its bad as it about 95% chance of it coming back make sure they leave it open and use the vac machine

I've now had 2 pilonidal sinus ops, both stitched up and both re opened. After the second op went wrong I refused to have another and was referred to wound specialist. Although its taken nearly a year I've made good progress and fingers crossed nearly all healed.
Make sure that the nurses that are treating you are properly trained for looking after this type of wound (I had a few that said they were but actually had no idea). I think when a wound is over granulating it's because something is irritating it, in my case it was the hair growing back. Make sure the nurses are keeping you clean of hair.
Something else I would recommend looking into is manuka honey dressing, I had these for a while and it worked wonders. The stuff I was given was 'Mesitran Ointment S'.
I would really look at all the options to try and heal from where you are now rather than having another operation. I found that surgeons solutions are generally surgery which is not always best.

I have bee facing the same problems with you. I have been burnt with the silver nitrate for the forth time, but the hypergranulated tissues seems the same and even the nurse said we are running out of ideas. I have been to the clinic back and forth for 2 months already since my minor surgery. Do you have any suggestions or ideas what is going on with me?
