Hi I was diagnosed as hypothyroid about 18 months ago. My bllod pressure has been raised, I believe as a conseqence of the thyroid problems, as it's been fine up til then. I have been taking a lowish dose for the high blood pressure, but my doctor wants to increase. I'm not keen, I have heard that T3 is really important for the proper function of the heart, can anyone comment on this aspect for me as Id rather try and get the GP to look at precribing some T3 before I become dependant on blood pressure pills (as well as the thyroid ones!) this is a really tricky condition and you can get depressed sometimes as it seems one step forward two steps back, any help relly appreciated. jeannie
I ate beetroot and drank beetroot juice...google it for yourself and see what you think..it seemed to bring my B/pressure right down,..
thanks for your reply, i'll try the beetroot (luckily I like it!)
Hi there Ive heard about the powers of beetroot juice on lowering bp but the only place I could find to buy it was a very expensive health food shop can you buy it at any of the big supermarket chains?
Hi fleetwood, I know it can cost about £2.50 + for a litre botle at the healthshops, i've not come across it in supermarkets, although I found a concentrated beets product for making soup which i thought might be worth a try, it was vile!! I did look on the net and you can get it wholesale for about £1.60 a bottle but you would need to buy a case of six. I'm not sure whether it's helping with the bloodpressure, I deliberatly drank a glass about 1 hour before my last gp visit and there was no change to the reading (I had been drinking it daily prior to the gp visit) if you try it, please keep us informed on how you get on, wishing you good health JJ
Hi JJ thanks for your reply yes I will keep you posted as to how the beetroot works for me I must admit tho I am a bit sceptical bout it ! bye for now fleetwood
