Hyperthyroidism and Facial hair growth (woman)

Hi,

I've been diagnosed with a over active thyroid for just over a year now. I noticed around this diagnosis that I started to have some unwanted hair growth on my chin area, small patch around an inch by an inch. Im only 28 and I've had problems with my skin (from all the sweating etc), hair (some hair thinning), nails etc. My thyroid levels are now considered normal so have definitely noticed an improvement in the condition of my hair and nails.

I wondered if anyone has used laser hair removal or electrolysis for unwanted hair? I have just finished a 6 treatment course of laser hair removal and have found its worked but not as well as I'd like. I've heard electrolysis is better. Also has anyone had this kind of treatment and how my sessions did it take to work?

I haven't had the problems you describe with unwanted hair. However, I have used home electrolysis in the past to thin my eyebrows and it has lasted years. The hair never came back. There are some very reasonably priced electrolysis on the market. That's what I would be trying in your situation. Good luck.

Thank you evergreen! I've heard electrolysis is a permanent method of hair removal so think I'll give it a go. How many sessions did you have for your eyebrows? Doesn't help my partner keeps saying I have a beard- I know he's only joking but still a bit insensitive!

I just did it myself with a home machine. I think it took about 3 goes each lasting around ten minutes.
