Carrie, untreated hyperthyroidism is a life-threatening condition.  Where do you live?  I am assuming in the States?  There was an act of congress that stated Emergency Departments that accept Medicare are obliged to treat people with life-threatening conditions even if they are unable to pay.  Please go to the nearest Emergency Department near you and get treated.  Also when you are running hyper like that, you are losing a lot of vitamins, minerals and amino acids from your system and these need to be replaced.  Your body also needs to rest in order to heal.  Some people can get their thyroid values under control by using natural means like Bugleweed, Motherwort and Melissa available in health food stores.  Regular L-Carnitine at a dose of 3,000 to 4,000 mg a day is very helpful, especially for the muscle weakness.  This is also available in health food stores.  Vitamin D 1,000 to 5,000 IU is very necessary for good thyroid functioning but even if you take these things, you need to have blood tests to see how you are doing and adjust them.  Please go to the nearest Emerg and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hey there, my heart breaks for ya! Unfortunately you'll have to have a blood test to determine your tsh, t4, t3 and free t4,t3 levels . Once that is done synthroiddirect.com can get you the necessary meds at a much cheaper cost. Some doctors will work something out with you if you let them know you don't have insurance. Best wishes, I'll pray for you.. hyperthyroidism can be hell if left go!

I agree with Linda, but you really do need maintenance medications (methimazole). With treatment  you could go into remission but without it you could potentially die. Go to the hospital, they cannot turn you away if you can't pay. They are obligated to treat you.
