Hyporthyroidism/ Shift work

I have been regulating my thyroxin levels for around a year now. I have constantly suffered with brain fog, memory problems, cognitive function even speech. I've recently been given a six week break from the shifts and I feel wonderful and for the first time as if I have no thyroid issue. I have to now return to the shifts and am absolutely sure that due to having to take the medication at the same time everyday my nights which are 7 in a row are preventing my absorption, leaving me struggling to remember things write emails and so on. I feel because of the stomach acids and absorption I would have to basically eat one meal a day for 7 days to not suffer. after a 3 month cycle of the shift pattern I get so run down I end up off work with painful lymphnode infections. is my thoughts on this correct? does anyone have theses issues? and can anyone offer any advice? as this is having a massive effect on my work attendance and may result in the worst!

What time of day do you take them when you feel better? What time of day do you take them when your are doing night ahifts

I have been taking them every morning between 6 and 7am. If I was to take them at night on nights I was under the impression I'd be overdosing each time and that the change would have an effect. If I can do this its something I would try?

Absolutely can’t hurt. So when you feel good what time of day do you take them ?

Hi  Claire,

I  worked shifts ( nights and days ) as a nurse for 22 yrs; the last 8 of those taking meds for hypothyroidism.  When I retired I felt so much better  probably due to the lack of stress and a regular routine.
