Hypothyroidism and autoimmune

had first bloods done 18 weeks ago was 8.4, and put on 25mg levothyroxine. 6 weeks later have blood test again and was 17.5 so was told to take 75mg a day but if started having heart palpitations to teduce down to 50mg in which after 5 days had to reduce, so just had 3rd lot of results today and gone to 19.7, doctor told me to take 2 one day then 3 the next then 2 and so on, she said if start having heart palpitations to go back and she will refer me to specialist, obviously 3 tablets per day is to high for me and not shifting my blood levels, any idea what next step could be. Thanks,

Had the same problem my initial tsh was 5.6 then doc put me on direct 50 mg and it messed up big time and they reduced my thyroxin to 25 mg and my tsh went to 21 then i went to see a specialist and he told me that due to starting from 50 mg has messed up my tsh so in your case i think after 25 mg doc should have put u on 50 mg and not 75 .. sorry for my grammar mistake english isn't my native language

A few questions. What are your symptoms that got you to the doctor in the first place? Have they changed in any way since you started medication? Is the level you are quoting the TSH or something else?

The next step would be to see an endocrinologist and have a range of tests called a Full Thyroid Panel. This is aimed at giving a more complete picture of your condition.

I lost my voice 3 year ago so very limited with speech, was under ent for 3 years couldn’t find anything apart from muscle tensions dystopia, was having speech therapy aswell, all along it’s been my thyroid, I can’t take no more than 75mg 50 is ok of levothyroxine as I suffer palpitations and sweating, had tia few years back aswell so don’t know what the next step will be obviously the tablets are no good for me.
