Hypothyroidism do I need med

I went to the doc today to find out the results of my blood test. My TSH is at 14 my T3 and T4 are normal. The doc said I don't need meds. Is this correct. What would make my TSH go up and my T3 and T4 stay normal. I'm really confused.

I believe that you do need medication.  I think a lot of doctors are trained to only give medication if the FT4 is raised too, but there are also a lot of doctors that will give you meds based on your high TSH also.  You should ask your doctor for a referral to an endocrinologist, which specialize in thyroid disorders.. he should be able to help you.  Are you having any symptoms?

Yes,my symptoms are memory problems, foggy head, anxiety, pins and needles in the hands, in the mornings when I wake up my hands are freezing. I also have tinnitus.

No, you do not need meds if your T3 an T4 are normal but I would love to know what caused the anomalous spike in your TSH. Please post more information...this is really unusual.
