Hypothyroidism - Underactive Thyroid

i have beed diagnosed with hypothyroidism for the past 10 years i am 40 now and my dose was recently increased to 300mg thyroxine per day.

Do you know what your results are ?

Are you confident with whoever is treating you as 300mcg is hefty dose and they usually say that doses over 200mcg have little or no extra effect.

It is possible for your body to become addicted to thyroxine so demanding more when actually it is not needed.

You need to check your results, TSH should be around 1 or just below and T4 around the top of the range.

Wow, that's alot.. I've just been increased to 150 - though not sure why, feeling ok but eh if my body wants more then...

Hi

I have recently found out that my thyroid is borderline, but have been suffering with water retention weight gain stomach cramps fuzzy head for a long time now. i have heard that kelp tablets are a good natural source of iodine for thyroid disorders, not any medication at the moment, doc wants to re-check the thyroid in 12 weeks time but feel i cant wait that long until i start to recieve treatment, seriously thinking of taking kelp tablets just to try and alleviate some of the symptoms, any one else had similar experiences!!
