started levothyroxine 6 weeks ago levels were 8.4 been back today after recent blood test and jumped to 17.5 so now have to take 3 tablets a day instead of one,

Sorry to hear about that! It seems odd though that adding the thyroid med didn't decrease at least some of the level. What brand of medicine do you take it might be something in the medication used as a filler that your body doesn't like so it's not absorbing it appropriately. I had that happen. I used levoxyl forever and never had a problem but I filled my ex and was taking it and when I had tests d Ine again I had a high tsh. I couldn't figure out why but was also having some allergy issues that I just contributed to the season. I looked at my two bottles of levoxyl and it had showed it changed manufacturers and I looked up the filler of the new manufacturer and they added aluminum to there and I am allergic to aluminum. So that is just a thought. Also make sure they are checking for free t3 and free t4 to make sure you are converting properly!
Hi, I had bloods done first and levels showed 8.4 so go called me in to start levothyroxine at low dose of 25, which I been on 6 weeks, had bloods repeated 2weeks ago and levels jumped from 8.4 to 17.5, so now she has started me on 3 tablets a day of 75 to see what they do, tbh I’ve been poorly for 3 years as my voice went was under hospital for some time but they couldn’t find problem so discharged me, all along it’s been my thyroid I’m told. I’m new to all this but I’ve been tired for long enough, gaining weight which couldn’t understand why, muscles were aching at one point I couldn’t walk properly due to aches and pains. I have to watch for heart palpitations with the tablets going to 75 from 25 as I hade stroke 10 year ago.
