I had an hysterectomy and pelvic floor repair last September and am fullyrecovered now. I am trying to remember how long the actual operation took. It was straightforward as far as I know and carried out through the 'God given passages' so didn't have an abdoominal scar.
I am waiting for a date for a full knee replacement and was curious to know how the operation times compare.
Glad to hear you are fully recovered. I had my Vaginal Hysterectomy on Good Friday. It took 3 hours, I had my bowel and bladder repositioned, everything had gone left and down! Also my surgeon, he is my hero at the moment, decided that my womb was a perfect specimen, and as I had gone the extra mile for self help before the op, that he would stitch it back in in a higher position! Apparently it helps keep everything securely in its place!
Will you be out of action for quite a while with your full knee replacement? Or perhaps they have you 'up and at em' so to speak like they do after the hysterectomy!
Thanks, Deb, for your prompt reply. That's a help. Bit of a shock, 2 ops in 12 months and have to have the other knee done once the first is stable. I haven't been in hospital for more than Day Surgery since my younger son was born 44 years ago. At 76 years, everything seems to be 'going south', dropping off or being removed. Thanks again.
Well done, Jacqui after all that surgery and hope you're feeling better after your fall.
I understand the physios like you up on 'day 2' and will possibly be on crutches for 6 to 8 weeks. Although not in the first flush of youth, I do swim often and am quite fit (I kid myself)! so am hoping it won't be too long. As soon as it is stable, I have to have a 'total' on the other knee. So glad I'm not a centipede! Thank you, again and take care.
Thank you for your kind words. No damage done thank goodness.
Sounds like you have a long road ahead of you, but it helps that you are fit and exercise. He! he! gosh it would be a long job if you were a centipede. I keep saying to my Rosie if I had her four legs I would not fall over, but she is not amused.
Hope all goes well for your surgery. Let us know when you have your op date.
