I am constantly convincing myself that I have cancer, but I'm too afraid to go see a doctor. Is this

Please help

Trust me, I am the EXACT same as you! I've been struggling with Anxiety, depression and health anxiety for over 6months. I finally went to the doctor today, I will get my test results in a few weeks. Trust me I keep worrying they will confirm I have cancer n have a short time to live. Waiting for the results is killing me, I feel pain everywhere from my leg, sometimes my ear n now my fingers. The pains move around, I can't take it anymore. I need to know what's wrong, the doctor also referred me to a psychiatrist.

My understanding this is health anxiety. Once a,dr confirms that you don't have cancer, something else will happen and cause anxiety about some other illness etc.

I have some of this myself and I never rest easy until test results.

Everyone on this site will agree with me on this. Maybe the worst thing we exprience with anxiety is our mind telling us horrible, scary things. It is awful until you realize, these are only thoughts. Truly, I know what I am talking about. Hopefully others will confirm this. Read all the posts you can and you will see many, many others with your problem, and how they deal with it. Honey, they are only thoughts. I just got a doozy about ten minutes ago, that I may have bone cancer in my face. That is so ridiculous that it was easier than usual to say, "you are only a thought and are not doing this to me, shut up." That usually does it. That and changing my focus like going for a walk, playing with the cat, coming to this site to see if I can help someone, whatever changes focus. Hang in there. It's really all okay. It may take some time, but you will know that. Love to you

I am the same but I have had testicular cancer before! Since then my health anxiety has increased ten fold and I have now got to see a health anxiety specialist in cancer care as things are that bad! I know it's hard but the only way to attack it head on is to take the first step and go to the doctor.
