I am from the caribbean now in uk 4 yrs. never had the condition in hot climate but 3 1/2 yrs ago was diagnosed. Itraconozole tabs worked real fast because i have it all over my back. my problem is it keeps coming back and i cant feel confident to wear the clothes i'd like in summer. I have lost all my self confidence and feel like i am fighting a losing battle. I look like death warmed over at times any i just stay inside. this has affected my employability. What do I do next? Disappear. I feel suicidal

Hi would just like to tell you that i suffer from pityriasis versicolor also, i had it all through school over my arms and legs i was coverd in it, also on my scalp. I felt very low and withdrawn but then i was prescribed Nizoral shampoo which is the ketoconazole shampoo, i was told to wash in it and leave it on but it did nothing, so in the end i put it on my skin neat and dry, leave it on for 5 mins and wash it off, try it that way once or twice a week it might help more. you can get it from pharmacies. it has been a life saver for me, it does tingle a bit when it's on but it soothes when it's off!! oh when you dry your skin put E45 cream on it as well. But try not to worry skin problems are common and it will clear up or improve, i love the way i look now, just relax in bathroom with a magazine you'll be fine and smile!!!!1:D if you choose to try it, let me know how you get on. hope to hear from you. Lil xxx

hi!

My GP told me two years ago that my skin condition was `vertiligo` and that there was no treatment...Big surprise !!!!My legs ,arms and back are partially covered...I tried everything (shampoo, creams ,tablets ,sunbath.) but nothing happened. I moved to a new area where the Gp thinks that I have pityriasis versicolor and put me on cream for four weeks....let`s wait and see!

for the moment the only thing which works it`s the CAMOUFLAGE ( socks ,trousers ,long sleeves shirts , avoiding swimming pool , summer events....) believe me it works .

But I am very currious and migth try your non-diluted method ,after all what have I to loose ?

Thank you for sharing your experience

hi my ethnic background is caribbean, am in my teens, have had it for over five years, have it on my neck, back and partially on my face. however have learnt that you can't let some skin problem get in your way, otherwise you will end up at home alone. i'm very happy with my life and very socially capable becuase i have embraced this skin problem.(only recently been diagnosed with it,2 years ago) i do hate it don't get me wrong, and i am hopeful for i am taking all the treatments required. and regardless of the skin condition i wear what i like. people look, and people have asked what it is, and there is no need to feel shameful about it, it's just this stupid society and what they think is normal, so really it's their problem if they are judging you. so what if you have this, your unique everyone has issues, whether physical or mentally and it will go away, becuase you believe it will go way. if i'm hopeful, and have had it longer and younger than you, you should be hopeful too. don't let this skin problem rule you. :ok:
