What does RTHR mean please?

Thought it was Right Total Hip Replacement, but now see it means.

                        Revision Total Hip Replament.

Friend had it done, more movement than before but she did LOTS of physio which seems important to get good movement

hi beth my husband had rthr july 13.  i was more concerned about it than he was i was the one that went to peices then in march 14 he had lthr much easy on me and him both times he was out of bed the next day and was home on the 3rd day first 3 weeks was hard as limited movement had to get higher chair and higher toilet seat, he walks with a bit of a waddle doesnt find it easy to kneel down but hes self employed and works on cranes and hes been determined to get back to that and achieved it but at the end of an 8 hr day hes exhausted but to be honest thr has given hhim a new lease of life so i hope you have the same oh hes 62 now, good luck to you., its better than being in a wheelchair now im waiting for tkr. best wishes to you take care jayne x :-)

​How soon after RTHR and LTHR did your husband get back to work ? I am also self employed and hope to return to work as soon as possible after RTHR planned in the next month or so.

Hi Beth, still not sure if you're having replacement or revision however I had a right hip replacement 10. yrs ago (now 63). It has been fantastic. The key is lots of physio support and getting the right equipment in the house to help. I also had acupuncture after as had back pain and couldn't sleep as 10 days on a water bed in hospital made my bed uncomfortable by comparison. Physio should advise on cushion placement for optimum sleep!  Prior to THR I had femoral osteotomy with plate to keep my slipping hip in position and that was far more painful and took longer to recover from. My sister has had revisions and she's fine too. We are a hippy family! Don't hesitate to ask anything and good luck. Positivity always wins and think of all the pain free days you will have in the future.

hi there, each time he was back to work after 8 weeks, driving after 4 wks even though they told him 3 months, i think it all depends on how much you want it, when my husband was in hospital 2nd time there were 2 blokes in there that didnt want to go home and played on op  theyd been in there 2 weeks, on the 3rd day my husband virtually ran out of the hosp, with the crutches, he was offered a walking frame but told em to s...k it like i said its what you make of it,. I will say he applied for ESA and was declined because he was self employed, so thats one thing that made him more determined to get back to work,  as i said he works on industrial cranes etc so climbing does tire him out but at the end of the day hes done an honest days work, and sleeps well that night LOL, Im sure you will be fine, its what you want that matters, good luck all the best oh forgot to ask what line of work are you in, take care all the best  x:-)
