I am 19 years old and having earworms(repitive lines of a song looping in my mind) from last 3 years.now I have finally consulted a psychiatrist and has put me on flouxetine 20 mg and tofizopam 50 mg . Due to earworms I have anxiety and a lot of worry.songs runs continuously in my mind. It has been 4 days since I have started taking meds. And till now I haven't noticed any such relief. How long should I wait for improvement?
Tofizopam is an atypical benzodiazepine and should work within an hour.
Fluoxetine is an ssri used to treat depression and anxiety disorders and can take several weeks to work.
I have never hear the term earworms before.
You'll probably have to wait a good few weeks maybe 6-8 weeks before you feel full effect, tofizopam is an anti anxiolitic abd should work straight away to ease any anxiety.
Thanks for the information.earworms is a kind of ocd in which we have a stance of a song or any tune running continuously .So should I stay on the meds?
Will it reduce earworms (form of ocd)?
Also haven't heard term ear worms before but do know what your describing, drives you mad, just goes round and round, what I call washing machine head, cannot get it to stop . Meds can take few weeks until you notice it's calming down , it's frustrating in mean time waiting to see if they do help, discuss with doctor soon with your concerns , may put your mind at rest, seems like another form of repetitive negative thoughts that just won't leave our head., let me know how you get on would be great if you can get this to calm down. Don't worry there will be some way to tackle this, hope someone replies who identifies and can reasure you more❤️
