I am nearly fifteen and have been battling depression for the last 1-2 years. Recently it has been diagnosed to be severe, after trying to take my own life after a very difficult and emotional time. My boyfriend was at an in-patient in a mental health unit and my best friend has anorexia, also in a mental health unit. Recently i have been offered CBT and anti-depressants, aswell as family therapy and a lot of support from my school. My boyfriend is coming home this weekend for good (hopefully!!!) and my best friend is on her way there too. Im in no way feeling happier yet but im definately more positive and looking at this as the first step of my getting happy and back to normal. My family have been really supportive and a few friends have stuck by me. I just want to say that even when you think there is no hope, none at all, things can and will get better! It'll be hard work but i will and you can too!:D

This made me happy. I'm 19 and had depression from the age of 14 to 17.I still get the odd day now where i think it's coming back.
One thing i would say though is don't take medication-at our age it is very dangerous as it takes away your personality and leaves a zombie in your place!Therapy is the best thing along with Supportive family and friends.
Also yoga has really helped me.Try it i would defo recommend.

Ahh if ur doc/shrink thinks u should take meds then i think u should, they are not a cure but they keep your head above the water while you are working on your cure. i'm 17, fighting depression now and the meds help keep you alive even if they take away a bit of who you are.
(a.k.a dont listen 2 the hippy, lol)
Take the meds - the side effects wear off I am now feeling much better and the gradual buid up of the chemical really works. The CBT really helps but CBT plus meds where you need it is best. Stick with it there is sunshine at the end of the tunnel - believe me.
