I am taking levothyroxine and get some really bad pains 1-2 times a month

I am  17 years old and taking levothyroxine tablets once a day. 

I get some really bad pains once or twice a month. 

it starts off by sore throat, headache, pain at the back of the teeth, ankles and knee pain. All of these comes at once and just attacks me. 

I get unavailabe to go up the stairs, open my mouth properly, chew food and move my arm. 

These pains comes for 2-3 hours or last the rest of the day. 

I take paracetamol and iburofen to ease the pain but it gets worser.

Why is it happening? What shall i do?

Hope I get a answer from a qualified doctor.

Hi,

Why are you taking levothyroxine? you are very young to be taking it at 17 years of age. How long have you been taking it? it may be that these are side effects which will calm down when you have been taking levothyroxine for a length of time.

I am taking levothyroxine becasue I have a overactive Thyroid. When I knew that I have problems with my thyroid approximately 2 years ago. I got prescribed thyroxine. Then I had a blood test, the results came out with underactive thyroid. Then i got prescribed carbimazole, 6 tablets a day. While taking these tablets i lost 5-6 kg.

I was then  called in to have another blood test. And now i am taking levothyroxine once a day. I have been taking these tablets since 4 August 2014.

 I have looked online and it tells me Levothyroxine are

used for 'underactive' thyroid you say you are taking it for an 'overactive' thyroid....perhaps you are on the incorrect medication...do you have an 'underactive' thyroid which is 'hypothyroidism' ..or an 'overactive' thyroid which is 'hyperthyroidism?...

you should get this checked and make sure you are taking the correct medication.  Best wishes...'

Also Carbimzole is used for 'overactive' thyroid 'hyperthyroidism'.  You stated you were taking it for 'underactive' thyroid..'hypothyroidism'....I think there may be a mistake in your medication....or perhaps you are getting mixed up with 'hypo' and 'hyper' thyroidism...Go to your GP and get it checked...best wishes....

are you underactive or overactive im in pain everyday all day im on morphine because the apin is so severe in my joints all over especially my neck and back iv lost now 4 st in 3 months.

I will check with my doctor if i am over/under active.
