Hello, thank you for reading I was just told from lab work done that I am vitamin d deficient my levels are at 9 can vitamin d deficiency really cause muscle bone pain in mainly feeling the bone/ joint pain on my knees seems as if there weak and I assign ally feel sharp pain. I do feel it as well on other parts of my body arms and back. Feel fatigued and been having headaches my b12 thyroid and calcium levels were ok? Anyone else has experienced pain? Or similar would like to hear from people who are dealing with it. My doctor prescribed me 50,000 iu and 2,000 iu that will be taken daily the 50,000 iu are 6 pills one time. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated thank you
Amazingly enough vitamin D deficiency can cause a lot of pain, including muscle and joint pain. Plus fatigue and tiredness for starters. It could take at least three months to start to get back to normal. Particularly as your readings are pretty low.
Hi, my recent ViT d came back as 22nmol/l (8.8 ng/ml). Haven’t seen my Doctor yet but I’ve experienced severe headaches, general aches especially fingers, hands, neck & shoulder pain. Increased skin sensitive and extreme tiredness. Also very very low in mood with increased irrability!! I’m hoping it is all related as like you my other results are normal although my ESR is elevated. I’ll keep you posted on what my Doc says . Good luck

Bumbles2 yea I do feel soreness around my neck and shoulders as well as possible skin sensitivity when I rub or press or touch on my arm or leg is when I feel it. Esr? Im sorry what is that for? The ESR or sed rate (in the US) is a way of looking for inflammation in the body - it is the rate at which red blood cells settle to the bottom of a tube. Inflammation causes proteins to be made that change the rate they settle - a raised rate means there is inflammation. Low vit D can also be found alongside some autoimmune disorders - which usually have inflammation and symptoms too.
Hello EileenH Thank you not sure if that was the reason why my doctor had my thyroid checked but those were normal maybe have him check if my esr levels are high as well, i appreciate the info and will look into it thanks again.

Foods fortified with vitamin D, like some dairy products, orange juice, soy milk, and cereals.
Beef Liver.
Cheese.

Can I just point out to anyone reading this that while James suggestions are very good, few foods in the UK anf the rest of Europe are fortified with vit D, especially dairy products and orange juice. Cheese only has significant amounts of vit D if it was made with milk that was fortified with vit D - so most European cheeses won't be.
