I came off Serlan myself..bad idea! Is it an easy process to go back on?

Hi guys

I was prescribed 100mg Serlan In January 2015 for depression and anxiety. I was taking it consistently up until April 2015 and I was feeling fine(not overly happy but not sad either). Then my medical card expired and I was not granted another one even though I am a student. I could not afford the doctors appointments and medication anymore so once my Serlan ran out I just had to stop taking it. I thought I would be fine. It was only once I stopped taking them that I realised how much they had actually been working for me. Ever since I went off it I've been gradually getting more and more depressed again to the point where I barely leave the house and I have abandoned college. Long story short; is it an easy process to go back on Serlan. Is it just as simple as going to my doctor and explaining this exact situation about why I never returned for my prescriptions? Please give me some advice I'm desperate 🙁

Yes. Return to your doctor. Don't struggle alone.

Yes, you must go back to your doctor. You have to be weaned off sertraline when your dr thinks you are ready, Explain tyhe whole situation to him/her.

What's a medical card? I'm in US. Do you mean your insurance stopped? How long has it been since you had last pill? There is withdrawl symptoms for 2-4 wks or longer sometines. I would wait if you can till its out of your system which you are judge of that. If your old symptoms are back can you not just make appt with Dr an get new rx? I was on 50mg for almost 3 months. Helped mentally but physically aweful. Had to stop. Lowered to 25 mg for 2 wks then stopped. Headaches, dizzy, an depression came back in 2 months. Went on Lexapro. It made me real groggy all time. Just laid in bed. Gained wt to. Nothing really mentally . Then tried Cymbalta. I have fibromyalgia also an GAD. It helped alot with pain. 60mg. But guess I didnt give it time to work. Stopped it after 4 an half wks. Blood pressure went up. Then Prozac or Fluoxetin. Made me sick. Crying all time. Severe anxiety. Aweful. Stopped it cold turkey on Feb 20th. Im fixin to do a liver detox for 14 days. An take detox baths. I want all the toxins out. Also in menopause an on Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. See if my hormones are vack to normal. I also had detoxed off of Tramadol in May of 14. That brought on all this depression and anxiety. Its been a rough 2 yrs. Im also under alot of stress. Caregiver for my 80 yr old parents an am married an 2 teens. I was in a car accident on Dec8th an our car was totaled. Other guys fault. So now have lawyer duk I ng it out with insurance comp. I bummed that I cant find a med that works. I think you should see a Dr if the Sertraline was helping you. Goodluck!

Hi Nicole

If I were you I would go back to your doctor and start taking them again as like many of us we need it to function normally. Is no different to taking a tablet for high blood pressure or diabities / high celestral etc etc but because its for mental health theres a massive taboo with it. Like me your body / mind needs help at the moment but it wont be for ever and even if it is SO WHAT! like I mentioned other people take tablets for all kinds of illness and this is no diifferent. You can stop taking it when better but you have to manage it with support from your doctor and gruadually decrease your dosage its recomended not to just stop as sub conciously your anxiety will explode as it knows theres no support from your meds. Get back on them you deserve to live a normal life and do not listen to all the sh*t that there bad for you because they are not and dont google anything!

Youll be back to normal in  a few weeks, faster than you think.

Good luck Nicole lots of love and light
