Good day all. I have been suffering from localized pain in my lower right abdominal area, it's something I can push aside ...except when I try to sit down. At that point, it becomes absolutely debilitating, I tend to jump up and literally cannot stifle my screams, it's that painful.
I went to the ER because when this pain first occurred, I was sitting down at my desk perfectly calm, reading comments on YouTube. I experienced what felt like a bomb detonating in my lower right side. I thought it was appendicitis, I went to the ER, CT scan was done, came back to show nothing wrong with appendix. Doctor queried it might be IBS.
This was back in September, and I have an appointment scheduled with a gastroenterologist in May. But I do not think that this is IBS, as all of my research I've done (I've logged hours of search results so far) indicates IBS pain isn't brought about from sitting down, nor is the pain usually localized to one area. I'm beginning to suspect this pain is due to SIBO.
From my research on SIBO, it's due to abnormal levels of bacteria that build up in the small intestine. This creates gases that build up and stretch the abdominal wall, sort of like a pressure cooker, if you would. As I said before, this pain only becomes unbearable whenever I'm sitting down with my legs perpendicular to my torso at a 90 degree angle, leading me to suspect that I'm compressing my intestines somehow to create this gaseous buildup of bacteria.
Does anyone else suffer from something similar? I have a couple of other symptoms that also point to this being SIBO and not IBS, but the strongest indicator of this NOT being IBS is the pain brought about from sitting down.
