Hi there,
Please stop listening and believing everything you see regarding this virus. Its so sad that the media and people are making it seem like an instant death sentence. If you are already very unwell and have medical issues or are very old then yes it can take a huge toll on your body and could (in less than 1%) cause death because the immune system is not strong enough to fight it off. I personally know a few people who tested positive, no one died or had a stroke! The yearly Flu kills loads of people every single year and it does not frighten people and people do not stop living because they are scared of getting the Flu.
ps - I am a very high risk person as I have a lung disease. I was also in a Covid Hot Ward, I am fine :)
Please try not to let it ruin your mental health, yes it kills a small minority of people but the odds are well within your favour.
I would take a break from Social Media, watching the News and talking about the Virus as that may make you feel a bit better
somebody just told me that just to stop watching the news and tv and online. its really affecting. really taking a toll on my mental health. im really struggling at the moment. im 28 and i have no underlying conditions but its the media scaring me that if i did get it and recover il have brain damage. i suffer with health anxiety so this pandemic has really set it off
I have health anxiety too believe me so I can relate! But the way the Media have portrayed the Virus is down right vile. They do anything for views, readers etc. The worst headlines are what sells and quite frankly 99% of it is bullshit! The number of deaths is also completely inaccurate, my friend committed suicide and her death cert read "Complication of Covid-19". Take everything with a pinch of salt when listening to the Media believe me! Switch off from the News, do not google it and tell people not to even discuss it with you! It will destroy your sanity if you let it and you'll be unwell mentally from the media not even the virus itself! Take care of yourself
could you message me. i cant see your last reply. thank you milao
Hi Rachel!
We spoke a few days ago, I am sad to hear you're going through a rough patch with the coronavirus stuff going around. I worry so much about my aunt she is 70 now and I am terrified for her health and the fact my family are getting older just scares the life out of me! I saw the image you linked and I have always understood that a lot of news outlets will put such extraordinary headlines out there just for clicks.
The more clicks they get, the more money they get. So they will string together something like it causing brain issues, and give you one person out of the millions who likely had a condition that made them more likely to get this and all these factors then put it as if everyone is going to get something awful from this.
Nearly everything on the news is doom and gloom, it's designed to suck you in I believe. I have noticed they have spoken about catastrophes and the "worst" so-and-so for years and years. I honestly haven't seen them. Maybe it's my naivety but I look around and still see the majority of things aren't in absolute shambles like the news said. They're no more reliable than the weather forecast.
I can see from the post the subheading mentions "initial UK study" which implies this hasn't been fully researched and is very likely just one of thousands of ideas someone has had, and has yet to even explore. Ads are targetted and it is so extremely cruel because they will target vulnerable people with fear-provoking things such as this.
I think we will all come out of this fine, there have been so many flu outbreaks, and swine flu was one estimated to be the absolute worst thing to ever happen and that it would kill millions. It didn't end up being nearly as deadly as they claimed. So I wouldn't worry.
Take care, feel free to contact me any time! :)
Kyle
thank u so much kyle i will msg u
I recommend staying away from the media for the time being. I did this starting about a month ago and it has helped me a lot. I was living in fear and it was crippling me, it's like my mind just couldn't even take it anymore. Stopping my media consumption has been helpful to my mental health. Also, I had 2 uncles and 1 cousin with COVID, all high-risk and they're fine now. Then more recently my aunt got it, also high-risk, and I found out earlier today that she's now out of the hospital!
thank u. its driving me nuts. my anxiety is so severe over it. thinking the worst all of the time. so sorry about ur friend. its horrible that they put it down as covid complications.
