I developed these marks and the cream's not working so far

I was previously diagnosed with genital warts. I recently had these marks appear and had a phone consult (no face to face because of covid) and was told it sounded like genital warts. I reapplied the cream I had and they have gotten smaller (2x3 day applications), maybe, but also look irritated. Do these look like genital warts forming or something else!? Concerned it could be herpes or chrancoid (google, no previous knowledge or infection)

Try and stop ‘‘waking’’ for 3-4 days to see if it helps ?

If you already have stopped masturbating then maybe genital warts as you’ve already been diagnosed with that

did you had any unprotected sex since the last time you were diagnosed and tested for STD ?

Cheers for getting back to me. They look less inflamed today and the white spots have gone so just a red mark now. Meant to go back on the cream tomorrow so tempted to hold off? Or push on to remove whatever it is?

I’ve still been masturbating so will go without and see if it helps.

Two important but related questions:

  1. When you applied the Warticon to the warts, did they react in this way?
  2. Did you actually apply Warticon to the areas that have now ulcerated (photos)?

If the answers to both these questions is NO, then I suspect you may have an outbreak of herpes. The photos clearly show 3 superficial ulcers surrounded by erythema. If you can, try to get to an STD clinic to get the ulcers swabbed for HSV (herpes simplex virus) DNA. Chancroid is unlikely because it’s now increasingly uncommon worldwide and also the appearances don’t resemble the condition (deep large ragged very painful ulcers).

If this is herpes, you should stop applying the Warticon on them! Just bathe the ulcers with warm salt water using cotton wool balls 2-3 x a day until they heal. And avoid sex.

Unhelpfully to question 1. Kind of! I have a wart at the base of my penis which went red and sore and in the same time frame as ones under the foreskin. But other warts had no reaction to the cream. They don’t look like warts, this was simply the advice of the nurse I had a phone consult with.

But yes to question 2, I applied cream to the ulcerated areas.
