I don't understand

I don't understand how you can go from feeling totally fine a few months ago to feeling like crap almost everyday. I get glimpses of feeling better then my anxiety and fatigue, panic starts all over again. I've had an MRI, blood work done, everything came back fine. I keep feeling like they're missing something because my head just doesn't feel right. It feels like it's running on empty. I can't even do things I normally used to do. Simple things like going to dinner with friends. I had to move yesterday, finally got my own apt and usually I'm so excited to put everything up and together. I feel so weak and sick and tired today, I don't even have the energy to put anything up right now. I just don't get how overnight my whole brain chemistry and personality has seemed to change. The neurologist wants me to take prednisone because he thinks it's due to headaches. Has anyone ever taken that? Of course I googled it and now I'm scared to take it. I've been trying to stay positive but I'm having a really rough week and tired of feeling this way. šŸ˜•

I have been through what you’re going through and I still get those symptoms At times. i get completely exhausted and my brain feels weird. prednisone is a strong medication. You might want to get another opinion on that.
anxiety and stress can cause your symptoms.it seems to rear its ugly head whenever it wants to. I could be feeling good for a long time and then all of a sudden I get very lethargic and I don’t feel like seeing anybody and then I get several symptoms of anxiety .
Think of what has been causing stress in your life. get some counseling if you can because it can be very helpful.
take One day at a time. Make sure you are eating healthy and getting a little exercise to keep your immune system strong. Take care of yourself.

are you sure its not maybe bi polar or you have bad depression and anxiety? if so alot of times theres no health issues its all mental that can make you depressed and sick and completley non functional.

Classic anxiety!! Strikes hard when we least expect it. Feeling great one day and like a alien the next. The fact you keep having moments of relief indicates to me (as i have the exact same thing) that the anxiety is SLOWLY lifting. I know youve probably been told this a million times but start walking or exercising daily. Allow yourself time everyday to process your thoughts. DONT be scared of them - once you arent scared the anxiety leaves. Go back to your doctors and ask for something to treat anxiety/calm you down. Keep going strong!! YOUVE GOT THIS

RUN, DON’T WALK to another doctor!!!
Why in the world would he want you on prednisone for headaches?? That makes no sense whatsoever!
I’m on prednisone ( which is a steroid and anti-inflammatory drug. I have something called PMR,(Polymyalgia Reumatica) which is severe inflammation of your joints and muscles. Kinda Arthritis on steroids!(lol)…
the side effects are horrific…including, (but not limited to), excessive weight gain, excessive sweating, weakening of bones, loss of hair, headaches and ON and ON and ON! it’s nasty stuff. to be fair, it HAS helped with the joint problem, but the cost has been Great. I’m trying to go off it, but it’s a drug you have to taper off, very, Very slowly!! I’ve been tapering for almost a YEAR!
please…get another opinion!
please keep me posted.

Thank you! I just started seeing a counselor so hopefully that will help :folded_hands:

It’s not bi-polar, although I feel like it sometimes. My moods are usually pretty stable up until a few months ago. I’ve had anxiety pretty much my whole life but this is def one of the worst. It’s def making me feel sick and like something

Thank you for the encouragement! I really hope it’s lifting :folded_hands:

He said he wants me to do a 6-day course of it to ā€œresetā€ things. Then wants me to take Trokendi after that for migraine prevention. I’ve read that it can have horrible side effects so now I’m rethinking taking it! I think you’re right on getting a 2nd opinion. :+1:

I’m also taking Z-pak right now for a cold. I’m wondering if that’s contributing to my anxiety?

Great info.. My spouse has high anxiety but in denial. The last 6 or so months has been to many doctors for clogged ears and headaches-- ct scan, MRI nothing is showing up.. At times I think he uses too many OTC meds to make him feel better. I think he is after a dr to prescribe a headache med but never thought there was such a thing. I’ll be on the look-out if he is prescribed this.

I am very surprised your doctor wants you to take steroids for a headache. However I have copd and take a short dose of steroids occasionally and this won’t give you the horrible symptoms described. The most you will get from a 6 day course is a couple of days feeling lethargic and a bit down. x

I just found this online but still scared to take it!

  • Corticosteroids are commonly used as therapy for status migraine. Short courses of rapidly tapering doses of oral corticosteroids (prednisone or dexamethasone) can alleviate status migraine.

How long do the symptoms usually last?

See my previous reply as this is the only experience I have with steroids.
