Hello,
The Illness i have, i dont think it Irritable Bowel Syndrome but its similar, it does involve my stomach and bowels. So I hope you can help?
Ever since i was a baby, I have had extreme agnoy pain undernearth my belly button which i know involves my stomach and bowels. The pain comes in a wave but doesnt move and it can be so serious that i can vomit if the pain gets too much. However i dont have diarrhea at all. The pain can last days to months and can normally be worse when excitement or stress is involved which happens with upcoming events. I have tried many different ways of taken my minds off the pain, walking around and excersing seems to ease it but when i sit or eat it becomes worse. I dont eat very much anyways because of this pain and it use to effect me on the night but now it effects me early mornings.
I hope this problem can be solved
Thanks
Debbie
Also forgot to add, i have been taken some medicine that my GP gave me but they never worked: buscopan, ibuprofen & mebeverine
Hi Debbie
have the doctors done any test on u for a twisted Bowel or a colonoscopy to see if u have any polyps or something like that instead of trying another pill over another one cause that can course what you are describing because I too would have so much pain I would start throwing up so they did a colonoscopy and found a few polyps and removed them and now I'm taking buscapan morning and nite and seems to be ok I'll still get cramping and pain but not like it was depending on what I eat. I would be asking your go to send you on further so good luck I hope u can find out soon what's happening with you take care
Dear debbie,
What you are suffering sounds absolutely dreadful, have you seen a GP and have you been referred to a consultant. It is always best to get a medical diagnosis before you jump to any conclusions.
Below your belly buton would be your small intestine. This connects to your large intestine on your right and the large intestine ascends up to just below your stomach and then downwards on your left to finally reach the rectum.
It is a good idea to google human anatomy and go on the WebMD site so you can see for yourself how it all connects up. You will see that your stomach is quite high up, well above your belly buton.
I had all the tests, blood test, colonoscopy, X rays and CT scan. It was my GP who suggested I had IBS and by reading this forum I think he is right because all the symptoms are the same.
However, I am not medically trained and I would strongly recommend to take advice from your GP.
Try keeping a food diary as it might point to what might be causing your bowel discomfort. Your GP will be impressed if you show this to him, mine was.
For me I must avoid wheat, milk, cheese, citrus fruits, coffee and alcohol.
It also helps to drink about 6 glasses of water a day.
I take Buscopan because Colpermin and mebeverine did nothing for me.
I sure you know stress makes it worse.
I hope there is something here that will help you and hope you have a lovely Christmas
Best wishes
Robert
