can somebody tell me if I am taking meds twice a day and showing no symptoms is it ok to have sex without a condom?
It is reckless to have sex without a condom. Even more so if you have an std. But, have you discussed with your partner that you have herpes? Does your partner know the risks of having unprotected sex with someone who has herpes? Is that a risk they are willing to take? This is not something that can be answered by anyone other than the two of you.
Yes it is OK... If your partner is completely aware of your status and risks associated w it. But I'm suspecting that you are not telling people you sleep w, based on this question and you should always tell people. On top of that, it is illegal actually and you can be sued for not informing someone you are infected w herpes. You should never sleep w someone w condoms, on meds and no symptoms unless you've told them of your status, as there still is a risk of spreading it. If you ate not telling people that is so wrong. Give people the choice like you may have not been given or how I wasn't given a choice and was lied to.

Thanks for your reply. I am not sleeping with people without a condom at all. I haven't slept with anyone since having this horrible thing. I'm just quite confused on how infectious it is. Some people say a little others say a lot.
Well don't listen to the peanut gallery. Valtrex has statiatics... I may be off a number or two, but it is close enough. It is easier to spread to women, than men to women. So if a man is infected, wears condoms, takes daily suppression, pays attention to any signs or symptoms and reframes from sex during those periods.. Your chance of passing it to her is like 6-8% in a yr. Now when you forgo one of those preventive methods, obviously that number goes up. I had a friend who was married for 7yrs and never got herpes from his ex and they didn't use condoms, nor did she take meds. Hang in there and remember to always do the right thing by giving someone a choice
