I get anxious that symptoms won't go away

Has anyone ever had it where they have something like stomach acid, then after you feel so nervous you feel like you still have it and are scared you'll get it back really bad and that it means something serious?

Yes Anna I am having a similar problem . I have been having reflux fumes but not acid . It's affected my throat with soreness and cold sensation . But I think it's getting worse as I'm getting worried about it and getting alot of anxiety .

Anxiety can make it worse as well as cause increased stomach acid in the first place.

its very rare that its something serious, especially in a young person.

millions of people have this and take an antacid .

Listen to you tube meditations for overthinking or anxiety.  Our mind goes to the negative a lot.  But we can have control and be positive and realistic. Dont google symptoms. They most likely don't pertain to you and your particular situation and will just scare you. When fear takes over it takes over your mind and your happiness will suffer.  I wasted twenty years of my life with worry and nothing bad ever happened!

People get all kinds of aches and pains and 99% of the time its nothing serious.

If you are really concerned, visit your doctor for peace of mind.

You will be fine. Stay active and busy. The more you think about it, the worse you will feel. 🌸🌸🌸

Yes, I have health anxiety and I obsess over all kinds of physical symptoms, most of which are cause by anxiety or are just normal benign bodily functions. This is very common with anxiety disorders.

Hi . I think I have health anxiety too . I've had a horrible year since March . Prostatitis followed by costochondritis and horrible back problems . I was always thinking the worst about it all and lost weight because of stress. I've taken nothing for the stress and now have throat problems which I'm stressing about

One gp said it's Gerd and another said it's viral . So now the anxiety starts again .

Hi

GERD do give riseto sore throat, burning etc. The dr usually prescribes an antacid before or after meals and a dose just before going to bed. I was advised to sleep with several pillows so the acid from the stomach does not travel upwards causig problems.

There is lots of info on this on NHS Choices.

Hi what is riseto throat. I am on omeprozole already and take them first thing in morning and before bed . But not before each meal . And the pillow idea I could try though

Ray It should read

GERD does give rise to a sore throat due to some stomach acid regurgitating and going up the oesophagus  - food pipe, and coming into contact with the throat.

I ambsurprised that your dr did not explain this to you or advise you about sleeping in an upright position to avoid acid travelling upwards when lying down. My Dr told me not to have anything to eat for four hours prior to going to bed.

Have  you googled GERD etc?

Perhaps you need a stronger dose of omaprazole or chsnge to pantoprazole but this is only intended for short term use as caan lead to malabsorption of essential nutrients.

Hi yep I've Googled it now and it could defo be Gerd but I don't have any heartburn or acid in my mouth or throat that I can feel . It must be happening at night but starting to sleep with head raised now
