I got my period for the first time in 7 months! Is that a good sign?

I stopped taking bc in August 2015 and had irregular periods until October 2015. My last period was 10/15/15, and nothing since. I was diagnosed with PCOS in April 2016. I started taking vitamins, TRYING to eat better and exercising. I'm not overweight and the only symptom I have of PCOS is no period. I've also been to an infertility specialist that is running a bunch of tests, I see him again at the end of June to go over everything. I told him I wanted to get pregnant so all of the blood work/tests are geared towards that. I haven't been started on Clomid or anything yet but I just started a very light period 2 days ago. Is this a good sign?? I'm trying not to get excited but I'd really like to try to have a baby in 12-ish days if I might finally be ovulating.

Unfortunately a period doesn't necessarily indicate ovulation. I was diagnosed with PCOS 6 years ago (suffered in silence for 6 before) and have perhaps 3 periods a year. DH and I don't use BC, never had the need and I test for ovulation following a period but nothing. We're ready to have children so I'll be visiting doctor next week to get the ball rolling.

It's a very cruel condition if you're ttc because it gives you an occasional glimmer of hope. Best all round to get expert help xx Good luck xxx

Did you have regular periods the whole time you were on birth control? I am going in to be tested in 2 weeks for PCOS because I missed a period but I was extremely regular the whole time I was on birthcontrol.

Yeah, having a period is a good sign. I believe your body is adjusting to your healthy lifestyle and preparing for a new life soon. I am diagnosed with pcos and will only get my period by taking progesterone. However, since I changed my lifestyle (sleep early, eat healthy...) I got my period like after 8 months without any medication, and 3 months after that I found out I was pregnant! It was just miraculous! Wish you all the best!! Remember to pray too, I did that!
