I got the OK to start running my dogs in Agility

August 15 I had a THR . During surgery they found a detached Gluteous Minimus tendon. They reattached the tendon and I began my healing. My hip was great but I could not walk without my crutches. I was on 2 crutches for 4 weeks then 1 crutch for another 5 weeks.

Then my struggle for normal walking began. It was a long road with sciatica and thigh muscle pain. Finally 21 weeks after surgery I got the OK to start running with my dogs in Agility. I am entered in my first trial February 5. I still can not run fast yet. I feel like a penguin trying to run. The one dog I am going to compete with is good so we will have fun. Hopefully I will be able to move better soon.

To all of you beginning don't give up you can do this.

Great post. What kind of dog do you have? We did agility with 2 Yorkies. Boy could they run and jump. Glad you are doing better. A winner never quits

Well done, you. It sounds like a long road. We do agility with our standard poodle though my wife does the running more than me but it's great fun, keeps both dog and owner exercised and improves the owner dog bond.

Agility is the most fun. Poodles are doing well in Agility.

I have 2 Aussies and they are fun.

We also have a 145 pound Cane Corso who excels in Weight Pulling and Obedience. He did not need any protection training.

Thanks Diane. I think we need to focus on our post recovery activities. That's why we're going through the surgery to get back to normal life.
