I had my gall bladder removed by keyhole surgery 9 months ago, I ended up in pain and jaundiced 2 months later, scans showed nothing and presumed a stone in the bile duct which I had passed. No further pain for 6 months then same pain, vomitting and jaundiced again. Now it looks like there may be stones in the bile duct despite them not being visible to the scans. Having to go through ERCP to check this and make a small incision in the duct to allow future stones to escape. Let's hope this works!

I also had my gall bladder removed two years ago and am still having recurring pain with severe vomiting. My primary care MD suspects I have some stones that were outside the gall bladder and are now causing trouble.
Did your GI MD mention lithotripsy (sound wave therapy) to you? What kind of testing did you have to confirm more stones? Did you have the ERCP and are you doing better?
I'd appreciate any feedback you can provide. Thanks.

I also had my gall bladder removed in 2004, after 7 years of suffering ie overweight, indegestion, hyatus hernia etc. had key hole which had to become full open due to problem. although for first 6 months was not to bad (4 attacks) started getting bad again have had the usual tests and MRCP instead of ERCP still nothing. for past 6 mo0nths unable to work, cant eat good side lost 2.5 stone fingers crosswed they will get there in the end. I might have got sorted earlier if i had know about possible side effects. thought it was in my head as did not have gall bladder anymore:roll::roll::yikes:

anyone considering surgery should insist on an ercp before gallbladder removal - its simple and painless and pre empts any post op issues with escaped stones
