i am still having difficulty in walking and I don’t like taking pain killers because of the side effects. Is any one else still in so much pain. Thanks
Firstly no one likes taking pain killers but they are necessary at times. Perhaps you need to discuss with your GP so that ones with less side effects could be prescribed.
Perhaps physio or aqua therapy could also help.
people are all different at the rate at which they become pain free and can walk easily, just listen to your body, keep as active as possible and talk to your GP about it all
When you say you are having difficulty walking are you still using crutches/walking sticks. Is the pain in the thigh.
Hi
Im not using any walking aids. The pain is in my thigh and making me walk like a penguin.
Perhaps you need to use walking aids. It has been said by many that it is better to walk well with aids rather than badly with none.
I had a pain in the thigh, it was the bone that had the implant in, it has to heal, I had to use the crutch to go out walking until ithe pain suddenly stopped. I am still limping, I walked like a penguin (hubbies name for me) for so many years I do not notice it really but, as a lot of people comment on here, the limp eventually goes. Healing takes time, use support to go out walking, you will get better.
6 months out from revision surgery to repair fractured femur most probably broken during the 13 days earlier...still in pain. Still can't lift affected led more than 3 inches off the ground .Need to use a cane. Doc treats me with lpatitudes.
Hi. I had hip replacement in June. My 2nd hip. I still have a little pain down my thigh but mostly at my knee. Worse after sitting. I can mostly walk it off. I concentrate on not limping. If I limp I use a cane. My first hip healed quicker than this 1 but I'll get there.
You'll get there to. It's frustrating at times but it is major surgery.
Good luck.

Knee pain was my most difficult pain and the doctors couldn't explain it. Each health care professional...doctor, nurse, PT, etc. had a different explanation. In my case it was related to the fracture in my femur.
Oh hi. That's good to know. My femur fractured during surgery and now has a cerclage round it. Maybe my knee pain is from that?
So how is your other hip. Is this the reason you are in so much pain because that is what happened to me. After I had left hip done within two weeks I had to go back to using walker. I did not want to wait for another year to go by. I have been stuck inside of my place because of this pain. I will be glad to have my post-op appointment so I will know how things went.
