I have all the questions....

I've been recently diagnosed with GH. I had a very bad initial breakout, it's still healing, but the worst is what I assume is over. I've been very stressed about it, as anyone would be.

My main concern is how this is going to effect my boyfriend and I. I've been reading that some people seem to get breakouts after every sexual encounter, but I was wondering how common that is?

Also, I read that sometimes hairloss can occur with the antiviral treatments.... I was also wondering if that is true/ how likely is it?

Sorry if these points have been brought up before, but I'm just scared and stressing. Thank you for your help.

It very much depends on which HSV type you have and how your own body reacts to the friction of sex. Varies by individual, so you'll just have to find out how it is for you. Lube helps, and give yourself enough time to recover before trying again.

Hair loss isn't a common side effect of the meds. In fact, I haven't really heard of anyone complaining about that. The meds are well tolerated by most people, with the most common complaint being headaches, etc.

Thank you for your time and your reply.

I still do not know what kind I have as of yet. I went to my gyno on Wednesday and she cultured the area, so now it's just a waiting game.

If your partner is young, then probably it's HSV-1, which is the much better one to have. It rarely recurs and doesn't require daily meds for suppressive therapy in most circumstances.
