I have been depressed now for 3 years and have been taking fluoxetine 20mg for 3 weeks. I have been very tired, and can sleep 16 hours a day and still get up feeling sleepy. I have recently felt as though something is changing in me, but cant explain what it is.
From some of the comments, I cant relate to them and fell that I will continue taking the tabs as hopefully in a week or so they may start working. Can anyone expalin how they knew the tabs were working! :magic:

Hi,
I think the reason you have been sleepin so much is because your body needs the rest, when the medication kicks in it makes you feel better, more relaxed etc... your body can actually rest and catch up on all the sleep it missed out on and that you need,
Thats my view on it anyway, when your body gets to a nice level you should feel the benefits and not be so tired,
After i took this tablet for 1 week i felt some positive results but i was still up and down allot, now its been 4 weeks and 2 days and i feel on a nice normal level, i dont feel intensly happy i just feel ok, and i get up in the mornings and its not a huge struggle to get out of bed, i dont go over the same thought 1000 times a day, i still do it but not so much , no where near as much, my life has improved 100% i'm so pleased,
I hope you start to see some good results
good luck
M

Hi There
its my second time on these tablets in just over 6 years, i started taking them again 5 weeks ago, ive had the headaches dizzyness and my hands sweat! the worry and anxiety i did have 5 weeks ago has levelled off and i still feel tierd but not as much, some days i could sleep all day but it does pass, i wake up early and instead of staying in bed get up!! although i could seriously snooze on an afternoon - hang on in there as they do work and the feeling of wanting to sleep will pass, you will wake up one day with a clearer head and not feel the need to sleep so much!
good luck
c

Hello,
this is my second time on fluoxetine, having been through a very traumatic time over the last 3yrs. I have been back on this medication for about 3mths. Having got through the incredible tiredness, anxiety, nausia, and dry mouth i was not feeling much better so my gp upped the dose to 40mg. I am starting to feel slightly better and hopefully this will improve in time. so i feel really there is no specific time factor involved with taking this drug it seems an individual thing, but i can say you do know when it is not working! Hope this helps.
Good Luck!
