Hi everyone. i took one citalopram 10mg tablet thirty hours ago. am not taking anymore side effects to awful. will this drug be out of my sytem now?

Hi Catherine. Sorry to hear about your experience with citalopram. The half life of citalopram is about 30hours. As your dose is small (10mg), I am certain that you are through the worst of it. A majority of patients experience side effects for the first 2-3 weeks, but your body does adapt and the drug can help 'take the edge off' anxiety and depression. How is your caffeine intake? - if you are suffering from anxiety, then I would recommend removing it from your diet. Good luck with everything.

I took for 3 days, so awfull to , so stopped. I was still a bit zonked for 48 hours then back to normal.... Agree with you they are awfull :-(
Just to clarify - only patients receiving a daily dose of citalopram may experience side-effects for 2-3 weeks. If you have only had one dose, then you will not continue to experience any side-effects as your serotonin levels will remain the same.....serotonin can fluctuate naturally in every person.
