I have been using Tibolone for three months for menapause, I have stopped using it because my right arm has seized up and cannot be raised any higher than my waiste, it happened within days, my bones are aching and hurt, my hands and fingures are swollen and at night they wake me up because they are numb,my breasts hurt and so on, I havnt gone back to my Dr who advised this drug and by the way told me "I will be a new woman" he didnt lie ! I havnt gone back because I dont want more drugs
What shall we all do, is there an antidote ? Has anyne gone back to the drug company, if so what happened, again what shall we collectively do?

3 months on Tibolone. Libido minutely improved. however.... many aches in fingers, writs, elbows, muscles rather than joints. keeps me awake.
Is it rheumatism I wonder, or side effects

I too have been using Livial for almost 3 months. Here are the pluses and minuses for me:
Pluses:
Mood stabilised. In fact I've been very happy.
No bleeding
No weight gain
Minuses:
Skin on face a bit redder than normal - I'm usually very pale - and skin is itchy. Feels like I'm about to break out in a rash!
Fingers swell up a bit and feel stiff, especially first thing in the morning.
Finally (the worst of all) joint wise I feel like an old woman of 90 (I'm 60). My knees ache badly and it's difficult to get up stairs. Also other muscles (bones?) ache - back, neck, arms etc.
So all in all it looks like I'll have to come off Livial and try something else, which is a shame because the pluses are good.
HI, I was taking Livial to stop the breakthrough bleeding of another HRT. It didnt work.
After 8 weeks, I had 2 weeks breakthrough, 2 weeks no bleeding. I had mood swings - ver depressed, tiredness, weight gain, hot flushes, sleepless nights... infact it was just like having no HRT and dealing with the menopause, Went back to GP who prescribed third HRT so now trying Kliofem!
Hi
46 years old with low estrogen and been using Progesterone injections Deepoprovera for 3 years. Came off Deepoprovera due to low estrogen count, night sweats and hair loss. Apart from that Deepoprovera was good it stopped my highly painful periods completely.
Got switched to Livial 3 months ago I got a cute swelling in all joints especially ankles, wrists and fingers and numbness in right side/arm. I gained weight and bloated up too. Stopped using Livial after three months due to accuse joint pain. For me the benefit was no night sweats but the side effects were so bad had to stop taking this. My periods may now return, my estrogen levels may now rise slightly before I fully enter menopause (I have one almost defunct ovary left) lets see. No medication is better than suffering with Livial.
I have been on Livial for the past six months. Oh my god!!! I have never felt so ill in my life. It was prescribed to counteract the symptoms of Zoladex. I can't describe how ill I've felt since taking this. my body Haas completely seized up the joint pain is excruciating. I've been off work for months and spend most of the time in bed and an having no life at all. my doctor didn't tell me to expect this when he prescribed it and I'm so angry I feel like suing him. I've been telling him how ill I've been feeling and not one has he mentioned that this could be due to taking Livial.
Hi Mandy, your experience sounds just the same as mine. I am 50 and I have very heavy periods and I haven't naturally started my menopause. I've been on Zoladex for 6 months to reduce my multiple fibroids. They said that I could only have 6 injections over 6 months. Initially I didn't take the Tibolone tablets, but after the hot flushes kicked in, it's was unbearable. So reluctantly I started taking them after a month. Like yourself I have never felt so ill. I am getting headaches, joint pains in my feet, fingers, hips and even tooth/bone ache. I am still having the flushes, although not as severe, but it's still there. At one point I was experiencing breast pain and some palpitations, but that subsided when I started taking Tibolone. My consultant did not say anything about these side effects, and trying to get hold of her is virtually impossible. To make matters worse my ultrasound shows that there has not been any reduction in my fibroids. Apart from not having extremely heavy periods, this has been a total nightmare for no reason. I want to stop taking Tibolone, but I'm scared that the flushes will get worse again. I'm not sure what to do next. What are your thoughts.
Hi Sharon. I know it's so hard to know what to do for the best really. I would try your best to get a doctors appointment to try and sort this out. I eventually got an appointment with my doctor and in turn my consultant. She suggested I had no more zoladex and started taking the contraceptive pill purely to get my hormone levels back up to normal. This has fortunately worked and my periods are now, back to normal. I still have aching joints when my period is due but no where near as bad as before. Keep persevering Sharon and don't take no for an answer. I know how angry and frustrating it is to go through this terrible ordeal, but don't give up x
