i have been told that it may not do any good iam on medication and have been in hopital several times with it can anyone help

I am a newby to diverticulitis, I always thought it was IBS, well seemingly not after my ct scans. I was also told I could be back in getting surgery ... Something I do not really want. So trying to manage by diet but I have had two flare ups in the past three days. So another visit due at my drs. 

What medication are you on Norman? ... Take care my friend

Hi Norman.  My sympathes.  I have had this wretched disease for over 13 years.  I was told right at the outset that surgery was not an option (the removed part of the sigmoid simply stretches back and the diverticuli return).  I do control my diet (avoiding acidy foods) but nothing really takes away the awful ache in one's gut together with other associated 'problems' I have had (as you must know) several flare-ups.  I would be interested to know if you do have surgery and what the outcome is.  Best wishes.

iam on anti tablets but they dont work

Good morning, Norman, hope you are feeling OK this morning.

When you say you are controlling dd by diet, what exactly are you eating/not eating?  Avoiding acid is good, but there are so many more things you can do.  Let me know and I will see if I can give you a few pointers.  All the best.
