Wondering how many of you guys smoke weed? My throat symptoms started in October 2018, feeling of a "lump" in the side & middle of my throat, hard to swallow pills. constant need to clear my throat. At one point it was so painful i swear it felt like open sores in my throat/untreated strep! I was given an endoscopy & prescribed pantoprazole but never quite believed the acid reflux diagnosis as i had acid reflux during my second pregnancy & the symptoms were completely different. anyway 4 days ago all of a sudden i woke up with the feeling of a hair in my throat. After 2 days i could not take it anymore & started scraping the very back of my tongue & throat with a tooth brush, low & behold wtf i start i pulling out what i can only describe as little brown/red HAIRS!! miniature!! looked just like the red hairs on weed (which i smoke a ton of...) but that would be crazy right?? Possibly even some kind of parasite?! i made an immediate doc app covid risk & all, pulled over 50 off the back of my tongue that day & another 20 yesterday. i feel a ton in there now too... I brought some to show the doc... he was so perplexed & brought in a colleague, both were stumped had never seen anything like it. One even called them hairs!!! I am SO grossed out!! Are they weed hairs?!?! WTF is going on?!?! So please if you do smoke weed & your having this feeling please let me know if you find any in your mouth, you have to go SO FAR BACK to scrape them & even then they will only be on the tip of the tooth brush. I was suprised they did not want to take a sample/swab & threw out the one i brought cuz of corona rules... i wanted them sent for analysis!! Sure i might be a little crazy but i am not imagining this, THERE IS TINY HAIRS STUCK IN MY THROAT!!!! Other than that ive been having pain in my right ear since March 2020, worse at night, accompanied fevers since March but having elevated temps for 2 years. 3 weeks after the ear pain & fevers started my legs stopped working". i was diagnosed with locked knee& arthritis that came on suddenly. Given 2 rounds of antibiotics in 6 weeks, each time ALL my symptoms improve INCLUDING my throat, but then return within a few days of stopping antibiotics. initially i was told my throat symptoms were psychosomatic... but the endo showed my vocal cords & lower throat to be red, inflamed & swollen so i was prescribed pantoprazole. It was working ok till last week... PLEASE CHECK YOUR THROATS FOR HAIRS!!!! ESPECIALLY IF YOU SMOKE MARY-JANE, HAVE PETS & DONT DRINK ENOUGH FLUID. PLS LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU FIND :-) AND ABOVE ALL REMEMBER WE/YOU, ARE NOT ALONE <3

I told her i would do some research on it but had no idea this type of thing is somewhat common. She doesnt drink a lot of caffeine or dairy but she was at the cabin for the past week with her father and her diet may have been different then. I will send updates if it worsens or disappears.

HI wondeing have you had any more symptoms of this . My daughter is 9 and having these symptoms since end of May .. and she has stopped eating because of a feeling of choking
I too have been having the feeling of a hair lodge in the back of my throat... everyone thinks I'm insane... it's been about 2 weeks now... I'm to the point that I cry because it is that much of a nuisance. I've tried just about everything that I've read on this thread... I've had enough, I'm calling my doctor tomorrow, I don't care if i sound crazy.. I need this gone...the coughing has begun and not much phlegm...ugh I'm so annoyed!!!!
I have this. After 2 MRIs and being told there was "nothing significant", I requested a copy to read my own diagnosis and saw "mylohyoid boutonniere". If I push up on where it is and move with pressure up along my jaw in front of my ear, I get relief from the hair feeling. The longer I press or massage, the longer the relief. My belief is this hemorrhoid of sorts causes a pull or stretch on my throat, OR, it's pressing/pulling a nerve. I notice the symptom worse when looking down or whenever my neck is bent forward. I know that has to be my problem, but my doctor could literally not care less.
I am struggling with this now. and whenever its hard to swallow thats actually acid reflux that did damage to your esophagus and it needs reopened. id acid reflux is left untreated unfortunately it can cause death. now for this hair in the back of the throat I'm still trying to figure it out i have sinusitis for the 6th time. and i have very severe Gerd plus many other issues. I have been trying to figure out this mystery for years
For the past recent months I was feeling the same ... something was stuck in my throat and there was no let up or relief to it. I tried to clean the area deep with a cotton swab.
Then I tried to get the tongue scraper go as deep as it can. I think it got some mucus out but something was still irritating my throat. To help my digestion I tried drinking hot water plain and simple. No caffeine. No tea leaves. Just hot water.
Well, who knew? After a few days of doing so, my throat seemed to have cleared! No more hairball. And less acid reflux too! Try it and let us know if it works for you too.

im the same, not been at work due to stress and anxity since april. not left the house since may. never get a cough. it started a week ago. sort of feels like a tablet stuck at the back kf the theoat. i have a weird matalic taste to.
Today o tried gaviacon doible action chewable mint thing for acid reflux ans heart burn. and the back of my throat is feeling a little better

would you be willing to elaborate more on the inner ear issues? i have this hair sensation as well as the feeling of my inner ears contracting and expanding.
i have the same feeling in my mouth as well. i have white on my tongue though.. some scrapes off, but alot of it's still there. i'm a little worried.
Literally have been having this issue for three weeks. Thought at first it was lint from a face mask, but would go away when I went to bed, which reminded my of a similar problem I had with a sinus infection a couple of years ago when the congestion went away when I lay down. So re-evaluated that it was a sinus thing.
Here's how I solved it:
Drink more water and have a lemon or lime in water Gargled with Salt water in the morning Neti pot in the morning and evening Brush teeth 3 times a day
Took a little more than 24 hours to fully resolve, but it did. I hope this is helpful to someone else.
Mocking, Great list of possibilities! I too have been experiencing the sensation of having a hair or a string in the very back of my throat. I have gone so far as to wrap my toothbrush with a terry cloth hand towel and reach my brush as far into the back of my throat/back of my tongue as I could possibly get while swiping forward, as well as practically brushing my esophagus with my toothbrush and am still unable to make the feeling go away. This happened to me once before and I thought I had throat cancer and once I saw the ENT and got a clear 'bill of health' it seemed to go away BUT now it has returned. I appreciate your list of possible causes. Very helpful. I had never even heard of tonsil stones. Thanks-a-million!
Hi, i have had this irritating feeling for three weeks, its draining! i'm working from home, smoke and drink a lot of caffeine. after a week of cutting down on all of the above it was still no better. i also have mild ( until 2020) anxiety. I went to see the doctor who was excellent. Prescribed some anti-reflux tablets to take for a month ( i can add the name if needed) and some over the counter nasal spray (Beconase spray) to help with a potential nasal drip. both seem to be helping. hot water and lemon are also helping. Some days i feel nothing others if ive shouted or had a stressful day then it I can feel it slightly but not on the scale it was before
Hi Nick i just wanted to say that whenever i have this problem i take acidolphus tablets and within a few days it is gone.When my problem first started decades ago no Doctor could help.i went to see a herbalist practitioner and he turned me on to Acidolphus .i hope this helps
Hey, I know this message is super old...but based on the length you were willing to go to to try to solve it before (that unforunately hadn't worked, I'm so sorry), I still want to leave this comment anyway.
If your doctor is not honoring your needs, because he has a baseless issue with a VERY VERY common surgical procedure that is not life threatening at all...you need to get a second and possibly a third opinion. And probably a new doctor. Tonsillectomies are completely normal and if it is in the balance of being uncomfortable for the rest of your life and undergoing a fairly minor surgery, he has no right to get against standard medical opinions because of his own biases. You deserve at least more options to consider, and a greater variety of sources.
I have only been dealing with this feeling for 5 days, and I'll tell you if it lasted more than a couple months I would be very willing to seek more than one opinion about it! let alone taking antibiotics when you DONT have an infection, and everything else he put you through? Sounds highly suspect. I hope you're feeling better now.
hi - i have had this feeling for 2 days - im almost positive it is a hair caught way back in my throat but i have tried everything to retrieve it but no luck. what happened with yours ? has it gone ?!
