So happy - last night I managed a bath of sorts! !
Went for my 8 weeks check yesterday with surgeon. He is very pleased with my progress. Lifted restrictions. Well after removing raised toilet seat it feels as if I am sitting on the floor is so low. Think exercises are paying off as have strength to stand up unaided.
I think couldn't sit on floor of Bath but had bought a 8 inch bath stool to stand in Bath. Ran lovely deep bath with lots bubbles. What bliss to sit in water after 8 weeks of strip washing. Bit of struggle to get up but so worth it.
Back to work tomorrow for few hours a day.
Please don't despair if you feeling that you will never get there. - you will in your own time, everyone is different.
I forgot to say I then sat on sofa and my poor dog who usually sits beside me was able to do so after a long 8 weeks. He was so happy his tail was in danger of wagging itself off with his head on my.lap! ! xx
Wow wow, your moving foreward. Heeling is great isn't it! Finally life is slowly getting back to a better place and the little things we took for granted before are a huge step toward progress.
congratulations darling ---- what a huge victory !!!!
was there someone with you, just in case ? I have visions of being unable to get up and out of the tub , which is silly, really, becuase I don't even have a bath-just walk in shower ...
Yes my husband was about and I did dummy run few times fully dressed. But in true husband style he disappeared into garden to water plants when I got into bath and wouldn't have known if I was stuck or not! ! must admit was big struggle getting out as different with lot water in Bath.
Yes looking forward to getting back to work again. I only usually work 20 hours over four days but my manager good and said just work until I feel tired and can go home again.
Still feeling stiffness in hip and uncomfortable if stand still for long, etc but Def heading in right direction. Even slept on side on good leg with pillow in between for few hours last night.
Congratulations! I'm 8 weeks today, and looking forward to a bath at some point! ( I'm ok in the shower for now) Like you, suddenly feeling so much fitter and mobile. Hardly think about my hip, just feel it a bit if I walk a long way.
Hi Tracey , so happy for you, bath ????? Lol god I am going to attempt that today , when thw restrictions are lifted, I felt abit lost and happy, I tried sleeping on my side last night, kept waking in agony. I am going to try a few hours at work too. Have a great day xx
I can't lie on operated leg as really painful - have you tried good side? I use a thick pillow which feels very supportive.
Off for third week of hip gym physiotherapy today. Do think it helps but goin to be heatwave here in London today and no air conditioning in gym. Oh well ...
It's funny how one day everything such awful struggle then suddenly you realise that you can actually do fair bit. I go periods of time now without thinking of my hip whereas it was only thing on my mind short while ago.
We haven't got a shower so been strip washing since op.
I was able at week 4 to stand unaide and take a shower without the shower bench in the shower, was heaven! I had the bench in the shower at week 1- 3 but only used it when I washed my legs. I have a grip bar and can get in and out of tub/shower all alone
I love my baths. Even almost 10 months after my surgery, I still get tired and sore at the end of long days and there's just nothing like a good soak in some hot water and bubbles.
Just be careful to ensure the bubble mix is not making the bath floor slippery before getting in. Ensure you have something sturdy to grab hold of when getting in and out and put a non-slip mat on the floor next to the tub.
I put my shower stool next to the tub when I take a bath. It's the perfect resting place for my glass of wine... oh, and the boring stuff like soaps, etc.
