I have had a really unique situation for the last five months. It started in the middle of December of 2004 and my skin started really getting congested and wierd, as well as my throat glands, directly under my neck are constantly swollen and feel tight as if it's cutting off my air flow. I really don't know what to think. I am confused, annoyed and basically looking for the key to this phenomenon. I've went to the doctor twice, one was a throat specialist and he looked down my throat (briefly) and said there was nothing. Second doctor was an internist, he looked down my throat and stated my glands were swollen and I had mucus lining my throat and it's "allergies". He prescribed allergy medicine. I'm not confident that this is the real truth. I definatley feel intuitively that there is something else involved!!! I don't know if maybe it's panic attacks because it comes and goes.

I too have been troubled for almost a year with the tight throat sensation (like I have a turtle neck on that is 5 sizes too small)and have seen my GP who treated me for sinus infection. Still not better, I went to an ENT who advised me I had a mild deviated septum, and wanted a cat scan. The cat scan showed no abnormalities other than the septum, and the ENT concluded that I had an allergy which was giving me the swollen gland on the right side of my neck. Also the same side as the deviated septum. I have taken the nasal spray, Rx and non RX meds for allergies, with not much relief. I have not had an allergy as an adult with the exception of mild hay fever. I do however, have panic disorder, and have had allergic reactions to all SSRI drugs. I have searched endlessly for answers, but have come up short. I can relate to anyone who has this problem. If I ever find the answer, I'll be sure to post it for everyone to see. Several months know I have had a place on the side of my toungue sore(right side) and my right ear hurts so bad. and then under my chin there will be a knot about the size of a marble. the knot comes and goes,Told the doctor he said it was allergies, but I also think their is alot more to this. Alittle worried. Hope it is nothing serious.
