I have had RLS for about 6 years now. I thought it was the menopause - but since reading the symptoms I now know exactly what it is - and it's a nightmare! I can't sit for more than 15 minutes. HOWEVER! I have found a source of temporary relief. It is SYNDOL. I got them at the Chemists for a headache - and slept like a baby for the first time in months! They have codeine in them and that calms me down and enables me to sleep. I mentioned it to my doctor and he said if I have found a relief, to stick with it. However, it is probably cheaper in the longrun to get codeine preparations on prescription. :D

I have been suffering from what I think is RLS for some time now. It has become such a problem, along with osteoarthritis in one hip and my neck that I don't get a good nights rest. Thanks for the tip on Syndol. I will try this.
I try not to take medication for arthritis because each medication prescribed over the past few years has either had unpleasant side effects (acid stomach) or been taken off the market because of the long term health effects.
I hope you continue to reap the benefits of this remedy.

I have been given GABAPENTIN by my GP. Since then (last Wednesday) I have had no trouble. I was getting only 40 minuyes sleep at a time just lately, since an extensive hip revision op. in June last year.
Hope this helps someone:

I am now in my mid 60s now and have had this terrible RLS since the mid 20s, its getting worse, my GP hasn't been able to help me. I now find I would rather die than put up with this any longer, my husband has no patience with me at all. Mostly I sleep alone then I don't disturb my busband. I would be grateful for any help, or advice. I will try Syndol if its available in Aus. Thank you
