Hi!! I am 24 years old female recently diagnosed with herpes so I wonder I am vulnerable to HIV , though neither me nor my sex partner are HIV positive.
No, the herpes virus has nothing to do with HIV, so keep calm 😊
You should continue to protect yourself by using condoms, because yes, you are more susceptible to the HIV virus now that you have Herpes.
You will have Herpes for life, you will live with it and cope with it. However, HIV is almost certainly a death sentence. So you want to be extremely careful from then on. If you suspect your sex partner may not be monogamous, you should insist on using condoms even if both of you are Herpes positive.
You are only more vulnerable to hiv because herpes can present itself as open sores on your genitals.
To catch HIV you have to have a transfer of bodily fluids. If you have an open sore and have unprotected intercourse with someone with HIV then that is how u catch it as the HIV virus can enter your body much more easily.
The chance of that happening though is pretty slim.
Just don't have unprotected sex with people you don't know and trust.
