What can i expect with this illness
Hi patricia, each individual and case is different. I have had PMR for 2 years now, but this is a PMR forum I think you need the fibramyalgia forum. Good luck on your journey.
Sorry Patricia but this forum is for polymyalgia rheumatica - which is VERY different! All I can tell you is the differences between them! PMR is an inflammatory disorder, fibro is a problem with pain perception, PMR responds to a moderate dose of corticosteroids, fibro does not.

Agree it's confusing, when I searched for fibromyalgia, polymyalgia was second on the list!
Patricia, Can I ask what the diagnosis criteria was for your fibromyalgia ? I would make sure the Dr. you're working with is willing to do trials of medication. I'm a therapist, psychotherapy, & know some of the antidepressants eg. Cymbalta, etc. can be very helpful, & have had patients usungbas such. Also, a friend just yesterday called & advised me about a natural prod. derived from the cannibas plant. Never being annaruhauna user, I am always skeptical, but am going to research it. She claimed she knows many people in her circle just starting to use the products with great results, some with long term fibromyalgia. I am very interested in fibromyalgia due to having been diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rhuematica, PMR, 3.5-yrs. ago. Similar to fibromyalgia but more inflammation of, aching, soreness, throbbing of muscles, joints than nerves, stuffness, & more specific areas. But, I feel some similar symptoms too. The very worse for me is the severe bouts of fatigue. I'm a type-A , obsessive compulsive personality, a physical person. I had to give up doing so many physical day to day things & my intense excercise, & long dist., fast paced walkng. I see a Rhuematologist in Chic., we're from MI, that is so empathetic to the myalgias, knows they are real, also dine extensive research. We know that many docs., in the past, often overlooked, especially fibromyalgia or labeled it as being in the patients head, a physiological thing, we that suffer know differently. I often think, wonder, if I have PMR & fibromyalgia both, woukd you share some of your most prominent symptoms, etc. ? Thank You, Reggie A.
Just reading about weighted blankets, and these are useful for fibromyalgia sufferers as apparently they can help one sleep better.
