I've always had frequent stomach cramps growing up. I only weigh about 90 lbs (just a small person- 5'00") and I've always eaten like a mouse. But I've always been able to eat, and feel ok despite this. However the past couple months, it's gotten really bad. I think it started to get bad when my diet changed- I started college and ate more than normal, though I never gained much weight from it. When I came home for spring break in March and then stayed home till now due to COVID, it escalated. I was back to a different diet, probably not eating as much, and eating more unhealthily and inconsistently than set times every day at the campus dining hall. And after almost everything I ate, I'd get severe cramping that would leave me unable to do anything for the rest of the night. Sometimes the cramping would last severely for several days. It was like once one thing set me off, my whole system was thrown off for days at a time. After researching and looking into it I came to the conclusion that it could be a gluten allergy. Most of the time, its things like pasta that gives me severe stomach aches, whereas gluten free meals such as rice never give me cramps. Once I realized this I began to change my diet to be gluten free, though admittedly i didn't follow through completely. I'd eat mostly gluten free but occasionally have something small that would contain gluten. In the past 2-3 weeks, this "diet" had turned into me just not eating hardly at all. In a normal day I might have something small like a mini cheeseburger or sandwich or a small piece of chicken, or maybe 1-2 slices of pizza and that's all I'll eat in a day other than lightweight snacks. I've found that I have zero appetite to even eat anymore because I always feel full. In the rare occasion that my stomach is growling and I get food to eat, I can eat maybe 3 bites before again feeling full and not able to eat the meal. Sometimes I won't eat at all, and still have cramps. My #2 routine is definitely thrown off too- I intermittently go between constipation and having to go all the time. I've noticeably lost weight too. I haven't weighed myself, but if I'd have to guess I'd say I've gone from weighing ~93 a couple months ago to now probably 85-87 lbs. And I don't have any weight to lose! I'm not intentionally not eating, it's just that I can never eat because I always feel full. I don't know what to do- I'm growing more and more concerned due to the weight loss and increasingly bad appetite and thus fatigue. I'm always tired and feel weak. I do notice the cramps sometimes get especially bad when I'm feeling nervous or stressed. know I'm not eating healthy but I don't know what to do about it. It's like a never ending cycle of stomach cramps causing me not to eat, which in turn is probably making the cramps worse. Does anyone have any idea what could be happening? Have you experienced this before? Do you know of any supplements/diet ideas/possible ideas for what's causing these symptoms? I'm at a loss.
