Hello Taimoor:

I am an RN and live in the USA.

Gee that is awful having the Hep C and then having the Interferon mess up your gland. However, be able to beat Hep C, is great.

Having Hypothyroidism is a pain, I know.  I have it too.  Well, it seems you still have a lot of the HYPO symptoms.  Did you see any improvement?

Have you had a mineral panel, (mineral's in your body), they can go haywire and if you have low Vit D and Potassium you can get muscle aches/pains.  Now a mineral panel includes Potassium, Vit B-12, iron, magnesium and sodium.  Some of the minerals help keep your Thyroxine working well.  It is a good idea to ask for this and a Vit D level. Vit D is a special test and if low you can have horrible muscle aches, brittle bones.   Many of us with thyroid problems have low Vit D.  Low iron and B-12 can make you very tired.

Also have your adrenal glands checked as sometimes one problem can cause another.

The good news is you seem to have a good TSH, you say.  How is your T3 & T4 levels?  The TSH is an overall number and you need to have the indivdual  T3 & T4 levels tested.  sometimes on is low and it would help to get that done. Do you see an Endocrinologist or just a GP?

As to your upset tummy?  Try to eat and follow a IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) of gluten free.  It has helped some people.  Avoid dairy if you can. Are you having nausea? Do you have loose bowels?

Ask your doctor - maybe you need a change in the dose.  Maybe you need a different thyroid med.  They have other ones.   So ask your doctor.

I hope this helps. Be well.   Shelly

Do you know if perampanel and/or antibiotics can damage the thyroid gland?

Jean

Hello Jean:

Certain meds can interfere with the thyroid medication and can cause your body other problems.

Antibiotics are safe and do not normally cause a Thyroid trouble, because you are only on them for 10 days and not for years.  Some meds for cancer to help fight it, can cause a thyroid gland trouble.  For example chemo therapy.  Also all illegal drugs like Meth and Cocaine can burn  up a gland.  These are just examples.

Perampanel, I do not think it would cause your gland to go bad.  It  is a good question to ask your GP or Endo doctor.  I have not heard of anyone having trouble from it.

I hope this helps.  Shelly
