Let me tell you I had full blown Raynaud's. I'd need roughly one hour recovery from an attack. Blue fingers white fingers, pain - the lot. I've got low blood pressure so I can't take medication. I have to go to hospital for a week for iloprost infusion. Anyway let me tell you what cured me. I take 3 pills. Butcher's broom, odorless garlic and gingko bilboa. I had been taking just Gingko (which didn't work) but I was advised to take Butchers Broom in Holland and Barret, they also said buy fish oil but I didn't like the thought. Anyway, it's only been 5 days but you could describe me as having bad circulation now but not Raynauds. I've washed my hands with cold water, gone out without my mittens and I'm ok. I went to an event and minutes after entering I was shaking hands. My hands were warm!! You cannot imagine what it feels like to not have cold hands anymore. I was ready to saw my fingers off. This 'spring' has been awful but now I'm no colder than anyone else . Please buy these natural remedies, it'll change your life. Please comment once you're cured too.
I have suffered on and off with raynauds since being a teenager, and I am now 58 and post menaupausal.
It appears that any of your weeknesses come back to haunt you are you get to a certain age, and my raynauds has come back with avengence.
I have found over the years that just the air temperature change on a sunny day, can bring on an attack of white numb fingers, but once back in warm air, my fingers usually recover quickly. However, over the past few months, I have been suffering more with hot throbbing swollen fingers, without having had the white fingers first. I think the two are connected, having researched other possibilities, including carpel tunnel syndrome.
I am going to take your advice and try the herbal medicine route, and hope that this improves the condition, as I do not want to have to take drugs or have surgery.
I will let you know how I get on.
Hi Sophia - sounds amazing with the cure for Raynauds, i have been living with this annoying thing for years! I have also tried taking Gingko in large doses without any change. I will definitely try your cocktail!
Question! Can you please tell me how much you take, how many times a day and so on? Thanks!
Sophia, how many miligrams of what are you taking that is working? What brands also?
Hi everyone, I feel a little embarrassed to say that I have had some attacks, but I have also been lazy with taking my 'cocktail'. I also started gagging from the amount of pill popping. In addition to all that I daily took a multivitamin, which to be fair, is a lot of medicine to consume every day.
The garlic is 200mg, the gingko is 3000mg . The capusle of butchers broom+horse chestnut+vine leaves has 420, 240 & 140 respectively, which I got from Holland & Barratt. I took 2 of them daily as advised. The gingko and garlic are from Boots.
So it would seem that I am not cured as such and need to go back to taking it daily especially with the weather changing but I must say that it hasn't been as bad as in the past. The fact that I've been exercising may have helped.
What I'm getting now are chest pains like a heart attack, I've been getting them more frequently in this recent cold weather, I get so scared, I'm going to write up my will soon because it really feels like the end. Boy do we suffer
Hi Sophia, sorry to hear about the chest pains! You should se your doctor!
Are you sure about the 3000mg ginkgo? It sounds like 10 times the dose im taking!
Im also doing cayennepepper capsules which should improve blood circulation and fish oil capsules. All in all i think it helps but i doesn't remove the problem! I have to more things to try out. Stop smoking, all through im only smoking 1-3 cigarets a day. And do more exerzice.
If that dosent do it i will consider going to the doctor and get the Calcium channel blockers or the Alpha blockers..
Anybody have experience with these drugs?
I have done some research on the net and Germany believes it is from a bad root canal. I had a suspicion on the tooth I had done and when I had an x-ray re-done it showed it had calcified in 1 1/2 years. ( The root canal was done by another dentist). So I can either go to en endodontis or have the tooth pulled and get an implant. But I will re post when I do. Basically it's bad bacteria every tooth is connected to other parts of our body as we all know. Just because it’s capped or has a root canal etc. doesn't mean anything. So happy researching. Sophia I hope you are OK. I hope with all this supplement taking everyone is getting enough water. Water is so important.
Hi, I have what must be the worst case known. There is no part of me where the blood flow will not shut off, at temperatures less than 80F (27C). The underlying muscles also lose the blood flow. Even a cold glass of milk will make my mouth numb. I have tried calcium channel blockers, without luck...and clues? Thanks
Im back with sone good news! After 6 month of trying everything from gingko biloba, fish oil, vitamins, butchers root, garlic, ginger, cayenne pepper, exercise, drinking lots of water, green tea, holding back on caffeine, alcohol and cigarets ec. with allmost no result! i finaly decided to try the calsium blockers, Nifedipine.
Just one small dose of 30mg every morning takes care of my white numb fingeres and toes. I cant get my hands down this really works for me!! Totally game changeing!!!
Had some minor headache the first week or so but after that no problems what so ever!
i really hope this can help others aswell :-)
regards
Thanks, however Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker, I have tried. I am considering an alpha blocker as a second avenue.
Congratulations JVA. I asked for them but my blood pressure was too low. I think it's higher now so I will try the calcium and then the alpha blocker if no success. I've started wearing thermoskin gloves. They are compression gloves. I can't keep them on for too long because it hurts and my arm hurts but it works really well for indoor use and as liners. They also do ankle foot gauntlets. The root canal theory is very interesting. I had a dodgy dentist who was filling in (no pun) and I ended up losing two teeth. Tim, your case sounds unbearable. I hope alpha blockers work for you.
Can you please tell me what milligrams of each you are taking. Thnak you so much
Hi, I am trying about 7.5mg 4 times a day as I cannot swallow a pill. Mt throat is only good for about 2mm. >>>I notice no change.
I have also tried Cialis (5mg/day)..it is a blood flow improver, (usually for other uses) also no result.
has anyone tried L-Argening? It is an amino acid, commonly marketed to those involved with weight lifting and heavy aerobic exercise, but is also marketed for cardiovascular health. The claim is that it dilates blood vessels so that blood can more freely flow. I'm going to try it, but wanted to see if anyone else had tried it.
one more item… I tried Aggrenox several years ago. It worked about 1 out of every 3-4 times. The first time I took it, it was like a miracle- I had a Raynauds attack and I took a pill and it went away about 15-20 minutes later with no side effects. The next 2-3 times I took it, there was no benefit and nothing but side effects (sore joints). I stopped because the benefits were too infrequent considering the side effects.
I have suffered from Raynaud's for about 3 years and it seems to have got progressively worse each year.
I have had depression on and off for years. Last November was particularly bad for me. I am nearly 45, and along with the Raynaud's, I have painful wrists which is probably arthritis and various stresses at home. It suddenly hit me that I was getting old!. To cut a long story short, my doctor prescribed me Citalopram, for my depression, I also thought I would try an anti ageing product, something i have never considered before, more out of desperation! Boots had a 3 for 2 on 'Fountain - the Beauty Molecule' (the red one containing Resveratrol) so I bought some not really expecting it to have any effect on my skin. Anyway... About 2 weeks after taking it I suddenly realised that my Raynaud's had reduced considerable, I felt like a minor miracle had happened. I can't find anything online to suggest that Citalopram might help reduce the symptoms of Raynaud's but I have seen reports that Resveratrol may do. I was wondering if anyone else had tried resveratrol as a remedy and had similar results.
Hi, I have looked up Resveratrol, My preference is to use the red grape extract (preferably as red wine). Ethanol is a good vasodilator. (at least that is my story, and I an sticking to it). To 'Daisydee23" I have had severe stress for the last 10 years, and this may contribute to it. Your joint pain could be Gout (treatment with Allopurinol.) Over time, my problem with the cold started at the usual 61 Deg F ( 11C), and has lost about 1+ degree a year. ..progressively. ..now over 80 F. Strangely my high temperature tolerance (where I feel too warm) is still about 85 F (with a fan) so I don't have much time left. I am still willing to try (almost) anything. Thanks.
I am very interested in the information posted by sophia10. I made a note of the three remedies you mentioned - Butchers Broom, Odorless Garlic and Ghinko biloba. None of these appear to be available in homeopathic form. Can you tell me what dosages you are taking and in what form? I am going to search them out at our local herbal and natural remedies store to see what I can find, but it would be very helpful to know how you are taking them.
My Raynauds has been acting up BIG TIME in the past few months, and I see where stress can increase the frequency of attacks as well as temperature variations and hand intense tasks. I would love to try something to relieve this annoying disease.
Thanks
Weezbo: Good luck with the Butchers Broom, Odorless Garlic and Ghinko! I've been there BIG time over 4 months with no result! I did spend quite a stack of money though! Also took cayenne capsuels, fishoil (still do) vitamin D3 105 microgram (still do)
I really hoped for it to have results (im quite an organic type) but in the end i just had to throw in the towel!
So if you should come to the same conclusion after trying, DONT hesitate to try it the doctors way with Nifediphine it just keep working every day with (in my case) no side effects. had only a week of light headache but it disapeared. Just be sure to get your doctor to check your blood pressure as it might be affected.
Best of luck getting rid of this frustrating disease
Sorry for the bad gramma and spelling guys
